The Celina Police Department was honored to assist with 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙, a large-scale child exploitation enforcement operation conducted in partnership with the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation, the 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙏𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙩 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝘼𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 (𝙄𝘾𝘼𝘾) 𝙏𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚, and numerous local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Conducted during March and April 2026, 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 resulted in 276 arrests related to child exploitation offenses and the rescue of 89 children. The operation focused on identifying and apprehending individuals involved in the possession, distribution, production, and promotion of child sexual abuse material, online solicitation of minors, human trafficking, sexual assault, and other exploitation-related crimes.

These results reflect the dedication of 197 law enforcement professionals representing 91 agencies across Texas, including investigators, digital forensic examiners, analysts, prosecutors, victim advocates, and child advocacy partners working together to protect children and hold offenders accountable.

The Celina Police Department remains committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to investigate crimes against children, identify and support victims, and hold offenders accountable. Operation Soteria Shield highlights the importance of collaboration in protecting vulnerable children and ensuring those who exploit them are brought to justice. Investigations remain ongoing, and additional arrests and charges may follow as cases continue to develop.

The City of Celina extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of MJ Ashmead during this difficult time.

In honor of MJ’s memory and the impact he made on those around him, the City will illuminate the historic Water Tower in blue throughout the weekend. Blue is a color widely recognized for both autism awareness and water safety awareness, reflecting values of understanding, education, advocacy, and community support.

As our community joins together in remembrance, we keep MJ’s family and all who knew and loved him in our thoughts.

CELINA POLICE DEPARTMENT ISSUES UPDATE RELATED TO AN EARLIER SEARCH FOR A MISSING EIGHT-YEAR-OLD BOY IN CELINA

CELINA, TEXAS – The Celina Police Department issued the following update related to an earlier search for an eight-year-old child near the Sutton Fields neighborhood in Celina.

The family of MJ Ashmead, an eight-year-old boy, alerted police just before 9:30 a.m. that a child was missing from their home in the Sutton Fields neighborhood.

The Celina Police Department and the Celina Fire Department began an intense search to locate the missing child. Supporting the search efforts were the Texas Department of Public Safety air support, Collin County Sheriff’s Office dive team, Frisco Police Department K-9 unit, Hickory Creek Police Department K-9 unit, Prosper Police Department drone team, Lewisville Fire Department dive team, and Prosper ISD Police Department.

Just after 12:00 p.m., the Celina Police Department notified family members that the missing boy’s body had been located in a pond near the subdivision. No foul play is suspected in this tragedy; however, due to an ongoing law enforcement investigation, and out of respect for the family, the Celina Police Department will offer no further information at this time. # # #

🚨 CRITICAL MISSING CHILD ALERT 🚨

The Celina Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating MJ Ashmead, an 8-year-old male who has been reported as a critical missing child.

MJ was last seen on Rostherne Drive in the Sutton Fields neighborhood and may be wearing training pants and carrying a tablet.

If you have seen MJ or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact Sgt. Kennedy immediately at 469-617-8809 or Collin County Dispatch at 972-547-5350.

As Celina continues to grow, we ask all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our roadways safe.

The 𝘾𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 will continue proactive traffic enforcement to address dangerous driving behaviors throughout the city.

Today, the Celina Police Department was honored to assist with our community’s Memorial Day Ceremony as we paused to remember the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. During the ceremony, Lieutenant Tim Hale had the privilege of presenting the American flag in honor of one of Celina’s fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice overseas and was never able to return home.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude for those who laid down their lives defending the freedoms we hold dear. Today, we stand together as a community to honor our fallen heroes and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten. 🇺🇸
