The Celina Police Department will be engaged in training exercises TODAY, Monday, October 19th, in the 300 Block of N Louisiana Dr. Passersby will notice the presence of law enforcement vehicles and loud noises coming from the premises. There will be no threat to the public, as our agency undergoes long-planned training exercises between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

UPDATE:
The roadway is back open.

Traffic Alert: Temporary Road Closure

Northbound and southbound traffic on Preston Rd. between Sonic and Glendenning Pkwy. is affected.
Northbound lanes are being diverted onto E. Glendenning Pkwy.
Southbound lanes are being diverted through the driveway between Texas Health Breeze Urgent Care and Sonic Drive-In.
Please choose an alternate route or expect delays.
Oncor is doing utility work in this area.

CASE UPDATE
On November 25, 2024, Celina Police officers responded to the scene of a senseless murder in the Mustang Lakes community. The responding officers found the perpetrator, Karl Andrew Stanley, still at the scene and took him into custody.

In the months that followed, the Celina Police Department brought every available resource to bear to ensure we would be able to present the strongest possible case to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office. Our detectives, Crime Scene Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office all worked together to make sure the family of the victim would get justice.

On October 8, 2026, the family saw that day arrive as Karl Stanley was found guilty of Capital Murder and sentenced to life in prison.

While we know that no verdict could remove the pain of their loss, we hope that the victim’s family will be able to sleep a little easier knowing that justice was served.
