Recently, Assistant Jail Administrator Tasha Lee, completed the Tennessee Corrections Institute's Tier One Leadership Certification for Line Level Leaders & Emerging Leaders training. This intensive program focuses on strengthening leadership skills, improving staff morale, and enhancing correctional safety. Graduates are equipped to navigate legal and ethical challenges, strengthening the state's correctional system.

Recently Dispatcher Victoria Raines successfully completed a NAMI/Crisis Intervention Team Training
Hosted by the Lafayette City Police Department. This intensive program focused on de-escalation techniques, recognizing mental illness, and connecting individuals in crisis to care. Dispatcher Raines will integrate these new skills into her job as dispatcher and corrections officer and help her better serve the citizens of Clay County.

The organizers of the Chocolate Gravy Festival set for tomorrow have asked us to inform the citizens about some road closures for the festival over the next few days.

Starting today Friday, 3/27/2026 at approximately 5:00 PM until tomorrow Saturday, 3/28/2026 at approximately 6:00 PM all roads around the square will be closed.

Also starting today Friday 3/27/2026 starting at 7:00 PM until Saturday, 3/28/2026 6:00 PM, a portion of East Lake Avenue will be closed starting at Tri-County Electric Company to the Jefferson Street intersection.

From Every Brain Matters:

New research adds to growing concerns about cannabis va**ng and youth mental health. A study published in Addiction found that va**ng cannabis — particularly high-THC products — is associated with higher rates of anxiety and depressive symptoms among adolescents and young adults.

As cannabis va**ng becomes more common, it’s important to understand that it isn’t risk-free — especially for developing brains.

Sheriff Boone has been made aware of a potential scam using our Clay County Sheriffs Office mobile app and the MobilePatrol app. The scammers are monitoring the booking records on both apps and contacting relatives or friends requesting them to pay for the arrested individual to be released on ankle monitoring device. If you receive this type of call, please do not pay anything over the phone or give them any of your personal information. If you receive a call like this, please report it to the sheriffs office.
