The Clay County Election office will be closed Monday, September 7th, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.

The election commission will meet September 10th to lock the November 3rd, 2026 ballot boxes, certify the Absentee and Early Voting, and audit the August 6th election.

Reminder to August candidates: Signs should be removed from all public properties and roadways as of today.

§ 2-1-116. Removal of campaign advertising
Universal Citation:
TN Code § 2-1-116 (2025)

(a) After the conclusion of a primary, general, or special election, candidates in such election shall be responsible for the removal of any signs, posters, or placards advocating their candidacy, which have been placed on highway rights-of-way or other publicly owned property. The removal of such materials shall be accomplished within a reasonable period of time following the election, not to exceed three (3) weeks.

The election commission will meet in regular session on Thursday, August 13th and we will certify the election on August 20th @ 10:00 am.

August 5th, 2026, to October 24, 2026, is the day's to request Absentee Ballot Applications. You may come to the office and request one, or call 931-243-2536
