Meet Your Home Guard — Chaplain (MAJ) Brian Larson

"My passion is the opportunity to come alongside people in their journey—whether it’s handling a crisis, managing career stress or working through general life advice."

As our full-time Unit Support Chaplain, his mission is simple: building genuine relationships. For him, care isn't just about being available to someone who might walk through his door needing support—it's about the organic conversations that happen in the hallways or out in the field.

Like many Citizen-Soldiers, Larson brings an incredible dual-career skillset to our formation. When he takes off the uniform, he steps into his role as a professional therapist in private practice, specializing heavily in marriage and relational counseling.

When not in uniform, Larson enjoys hiking, fishing and skiing. He is married with two children.

Thank you, Chaplain Larson, for bringing your unique talents, professional expertise and heart to the well-being of our Colorado National Guard family!

Soldiers from the Joint Counterdrug Task Force teamed up yesterday with the Drug Enforcement Administration for a drug prevention event at Aurora Hills Middle School!

Our Soldiers worked hand-in-hand with federal law enforcement partners to connect directly with students. The assembly focused on early prevention, building community trust, and empowering the next generation to make healthy, drug-free choices.

The highlight of the day for many of the students was the arrival of our LUH-72 Lakota helicopter. Landing right on the school field, the aircraft served as a centerpiece for a static display and a hands-on walk-around for the youth.

Thank you to the Aurora Hills Middle School faculty, administration, and our law enforcement partners for coordinating a safe, high-energy event. Our Colorado Army National Guard soldiers live in these communities, and they are proud to work alongside our neighbors to help build a resilient, drug-free future for our youth!

Hot on the heels of getting our M model, we are proud to announce the arrival of our very first UH-60V Black Hawk! This is the first of 12 Victors slated for the COARNG, which will bring our total modernization count to 18 new aircraft.

This "Victor" model is a game-changer for our pilots, replacing the aging analog systems of the past with a sleek, all-digital "glass" cockpit. By standardizing our fleet with these upgrades, we are ensuring that Colorado’s Soldiers have the most reliable, modern, and efficient aircraft to support our state and nation.

We are excited to announce that the COARNG has officially received its first HH-60M Black Hawk! This arrival marks the beginning of a fleet upgrade, with a total of six "Mike" models slated to join our ranks.

Why does this matter?
• Cost Efficiency: These advanced aircraft will cut our maintenance costs by nearly 50%.
• Seamless Integration: Enhanced digital systems allow us to work more effectively alongside active-duty forces.
• Enhanced Rescue: With improved lift and navigation, our ability to provide critical Search and Rescue support across Colorado’s rugged terrain just got a major boost.

Out with the "L," in with the "M." We’re staying ready, staying relevant, and continuing to serve our community with the best tech available.
