๐Ÿ”ฅ Channel your inner Smokey Bear and keep our forests safe! Remember, a campfire isnโ€™t truly out until itโ€™s cold out. Always use the Drown-Stir-Drown-Feel method before you leave your campsite:

๐ŸŒŠ Drown it with water.
๐Ÿฅ„ Stir the ashes and embers.
๐ŸŒŠ Drown it again.
โœ‹ Feel the coals to ensure they are ice cold.

As disasters become more frequent and the threat of wildfire more prevalent in Colorado, it is important to take steps before an emergency.

Taking action early helps to reduce risk and protect your life, health, and property.

Fire and severe weather season is here, and conditions can change quickly. Wildfire risk, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail are all part of our spring and summer pattern. Non-weather related emergencies can happen here, too. Emergency alerts are one of the fastest ways to get important information when something is happening in your area.

We encourage everyone to sign up for alerts at weld911alert.com. Even if you have signed up before, please take a moment to register again to make sure your information is current and you receive messages when they matter most.

You can also download the NEW CodeRED Public Alerts app. If you previously had the old CodeRED app installed, please delete it and download the new app.

Stay informed and connected. You can never be too signed up!

โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ WINTER SAFETY REMINDER ๐Ÿ”ฅโ„๏ธ

Heavy snow can block your furnace vents โ€” and thatโ€™s a serious fire hazard.

โœ… Check vents regularly
โœ… Clear away snow and ice
โœ… Keep at least 1โ€“2 feet of space around exhaust outlets

Blocked vents can cause dangerous heat buildup and even carbon monoxide risks. A quick check can help protect your home and your family.

Happy 9-1-1 Education Month!

When our Public Educators are out at community events, we get a lot of great questions about Peak Alerts. Here are a few we hear most often:

โ€œWill I get spammed with alerts?โ€
No. Peak Alerts are strictly for public safety notifications, no ads, no promotions. Youโ€™ll only receive alerts that are relevant to your registered locations.

โ€œI already get AMBER Alerts. Isnโ€™t that the same thing?โ€
Not quite. AMBER Alert notifications are specifically used to help locate abducted children and are sent by the Colorado Bureau of Investigations.

Peak Alerts, on the other hand, notify you about emergencies that may impact your specific area (like wildfires, law enforcement activity, or evacuations) and provide important safety instructions from local public safety agencies.

โ€œWhat are you selling?โ€
Nothing at all. Peak Alerts is completely free to sign up!
