We learned a short time ago of the untimely passing of our Past President Kristen Hayes this morning.

She was the Community Risk Reduction Specialist for Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, and a friend to all.

Please keep Kristen and her family in your thoughts. She will be missed by all who knew her, and the Fire Service lost a shining star today.

For the first time, Colorado hosted the National Fire Academy’s Youth Firesetting Intervention Program Manager course. YFIS around Colorado came together to learn the value of having a strong Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention program for their departments and communities. CRRN would personally like to thank Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control for making this class happen. Thank you to Arvada Fire for hosting the class, and to our amazing instructor Ellis Thompson for sharing her wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Friday was a special day for CRRN!

CRRN was selected to receive a donation from American Fire Sprinkler Association to help support community safety and education efforts. The board voted to give this donation right back the membership, to purchase supplies and materials that further support their Fire and life safety education programs.
It’s partnerships like this that define the foundation of Community Risk Reduction. When organizations work together to support each other’s mission and goals. At the end of the day, we all have the same goal. And that’s to keep our communities safe. To embrace change, support education outreach, and to enhance a safer way of living.

Thank you again AFSA!

Last weeks CRRN training/meeting was amazing. Our members were introduced to two senior focused resources that could help provide CRR specialist, who work closely with the elderly, additional education and resources for them.
CRRN is proud to support:
** Mr. Bob Brocker with Age Wise Colorado
** Dr. Nathan Estrada with Benefits In Action

We also had an amazing presentation from one of our own, Selena Silva with South Metro Fire Rescue, who spoke about providing fire and life safety education to the blind community. Her presentation, which was presented at this years NFPA Conference, was both touching and inspiring!

All three presentations are examples of how external partnerships and CRR work together for the safety and well being of our communities!

CRRN would like to thank Evergreen Fire/Rescue for being such welcoming and helpful hosts.
We would also like to thank -
Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control
Fire Safe Colorado for putting together this training for our members!
