Reflecting today on our recent trip to the Normandy American Cemetery and Omaha Beach. The cemetery reminds me a great deal of the Arlington National Cemetery. It was definitely a very somber experience, thinking about the young men and women who have sacrificed for our country. The following is a brief description of the Normandy American Cemetery; you can follow the link to learn more: The Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, is a solemn memorial and burial ground for U.S. soldiers who died in World War II, overlooking Omaha Beach. It contains the graves of 9,389 service members and features a memorial with a statue, reflecting pool, and walls inscribed with the names of the missing, honoring those who fell during the D-Day landings and subsequent operations. The site is managed by the American Battle Monuments Commission and is a powerful tribute to the sacrifices made for freedom.
