I would like to extend congratulations to the EMT class that was held in Bloomfield. This class has produced multiple new EMTs for Knox County, and we will see an increase in EMTs in Niobrara, Santee, Crofton, and Bloomfield. The class also included students from surrounding communities as well.

Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to complete the course and step up to serve their communities. Your commitment to emergency services and helping others is greatly appreciated. 🚑🚑

Update:

K9 Knox would like to give a huge thank you to Hy-Vee East out of Norfolk for generously donating cases of water for the Village of Center.

If you are a resident of Center, cases of water are available at the Community Center. Please use the honor system, and if you have kids in the home, feel free to grab a couple of cases as needed.

We greatly appreciate the support and generosity shown to our community.

The Village of Center is currently without water service. Portable toilets will be brought in for use at the courthouse and for residents in Center, NE.

I will be reaching out to the village to help coordinate efforts, check in with residents, and assess who may need additional drinkable water supplies.

Repairs are expected to begin tomorrow; however, there is currently no estimated completion time. I will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

🚨 Knox County Emergency Management Agency Update 🚨

The Knox County Emergency Management Agency has requested a tanker plane to assist with the fire currently underway in Knox County. After coordination with fire chiefs across the area, the Knox County Task Force will be deploying within our own county tonight.

While this team is often called upon to support neighboring communities, this marks a rare instance of the Task Force serving here at home. It speaks to the seriousness of the situation and the strength of our local response.

We want to recognize and thank all of the public safety personnel across Knox County. Their commitment, long hours, and willingness to step up when it matters most do not go unnoticed. Even though departments may be miles apart, they continue to come together and operate as one unified team for the safety of our community.

Please continue to stay clear of active response areas and follow official updates as they become available.

🔥 Fire Update 🔥

Earlier today, Ewing Fire and multiple agencies responded to a fire burning south of Highway 20 that crossed from Holt County into Antelope County.

🌙 Those crews have since returned home to get some well-deserved rest after working throughout the day. The Knox County Task Force, along with Holt/Boyd Task Force members, have been on scene since approximately 6:00 PM yesterday and are continuing to cover the overnight shift.

🙏 Thank you to all firefighters—both those who worked earlier and those still on scene—protecting our communities.

🚨 Please avoid the area and stay safe.

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming the new Police Chief of Wausa to the office for his ID card—and let’s just say Knox wasn’t about to miss out on the moment! He made sure he was right there alongside Chief Boston for the photo.

We did have to sneak in a quick retake, but in the end, these two look more than ready to get to work and serve the community.

Wishing you all the best in your new role, Chief Boston! Wausa is lucky to have you, and we’re confident you’re going to do great things for the community.
