As EMS Week came to an end, we want to thank everyone who gave us treats, gifts, and thank yous throughout the week. We truly appreciate the support!

We ended the week with a picnic, and it was a great time to enjoy each other’s company and spend time with family.

We also finished the week with several critical calls. It’s always incredible to see EMS departments working together to help serve our community.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

From all of us at Centerville Fire & Rescue, we extend our deepest gratitude to those who served and gave their lives protecting our freedoms. May we never forget their courage, dedication, and sacrifice.

On May 21st, Centerville Fire Rescue and Centerville Fire Department were paged for a truck that had went off the road roughly 500 feet and
entered a pond. The patient was found to be trapped. Fire crews immediately began extrication efforts utilizing the extrication equipment. The patient was successfully and quickly extricated and removed from the water, where CPR was immediately started. Crews continued life savings measures. MercyOne Air Med landed on scene and transported the patient.

This incident was assisted by Appanoose County Sheriff’s Department, Centerville Police Department, Mystic Fire Department, Centerville Fire Department, Centerville Fire Rescue, and MercyOne.

We are very fortunate to work alongside such incredible first responders. Thank you all for your continued hard work and dedication.

This week, May 17–23, we proudly recognize the dedicated EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, dispatchers, nurses, and healthcare partners who work together every day to serve our community.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes Together,” reminds us that emergency care is truly a team effort. From the moment a 911 call is placed, countless people work side by side to provide fast, compassionate, and life-saving care when it matters most.

At Centerville Fire Rescue, we are incredibly proud of our crews and grateful for the partnerships we share with neighboring departments, law enforcement, dispatchers, hospital staff, and the community we serve. Your teamwork, dedication, and support help make positive outcomes possible every single day.

A big shout out to Mike and Jennifer Lennie for the generous donation of a pallet of drinking water for all of the Appanoose County fire departments. Today we want to recognize and thank the mothers who do so much for our families, our community, and our department. From the moms serving as EMS providers, paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters, to the moms at home taking care of everyone around them — your strength, compassion, and dedication never go unnoticed.

Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the care you give, and the love you show every single day. Whether you’re responding to emergencies, supporting your family behind the scenes, or doing both at the same time, we appreciate everything you do.

Happy Nurses Week to all of the incredible nurses out there! ❤️🩺

This week, members of Centerville Fire & Rescue had the opportunity to stop by and deliver a few goodies as a small token of appreciation for the amazing nurses we work alongside every day. From long shifts to compassionate patient care, nurses play such an important role in keeping our community healthy and safe.

We are grateful for your dedication, teamwork, kindness, and the countless hours you spend caring for others. Thank you for everything you do — not just this week, but every single day!

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative Inc. for their generous grant support!

This funding will allow us to purchase 5 sets of wildland firefighting gear, helping ensure our crews are better equipped to safely and effectively respond to grass and brush fires in our community.

Investments like this directly impact the safety of both our firefighters and the residents we serve. We truly appreciate your continued commitment to supporting local emergency services!

Behind every call is a firefighter willing to give their time, energy, and heart to protect our community—day or night, in all conditions. Their commitment goes far beyond emergencies, through training, prevention efforts, and being there when it matters most.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of our firefighters and the work they do to keep our community safe.
