My Dear Friends & COG Communities;
BIG NEWS HAPPENING WITH CVPD! We are launching a new Partnership Funding Program for the Chariton Valley Planning & Development (CVPD) Council of Governments. This is a vital step toward securing the resources needed for regional planning and advocacy across Appanoose, Lucas, Monroe, and Wayne counties.
To overcome our funding and sustainability challenges, we are focusing on pitching our program as our current budget struggles for regional development funding. We approach foundations with a strict geographic focus on Iowa or rural community development. Our planning documents are the essential first step that makes local infrastructure projects "shovel-ready" for larger state and federal grants.
Because CVPD operates under Iowa Chapter 28H/28E to serve a specific 4-county region, and are looking for organizations that prioritize rural development, community planning, and local advocacy in Iowa. Our quasi-governmental status is to assure corporate/private donors that your long-term stability and strict public accountability is continued. In the late 1960's our state created 28H for this collaboration efforts.
We are here to connect and network with professional makers across our local area, state, and federal platforms on what our needs are in the rural parts of the state. We focus on rural cities/county improvements and collaborative planning. We currently work with transportation planning, housing needs, hazard mitigation planning, comprehensive planning, and Community Economic Development Strategies (CEDS), but we want to do more planning regionally. Over the next few months, we are expanding a regional service for cities to have a Regional Code Enforcement consultant. So many of our small communities and even the bigger ones are able to afford this service, so CVPD is creating this vision to assist them.
So, if you are interested with financial support to this assistance, we will create a Community Advisory Board (CAB) that works with CVPD on what the needs are, and where to look for solutions. You can have a say in planning for our region's future.
I have attached a few items for you to review, look over, and become more educated on what CVPD does and how you can help us out. You can check out our website and page by the links below. As I always say, I don't know what we need, unless you tell us what you need. We are planners, we are educators, we are Advocates working with our current local offices to boost our future.
I would like to personally Thank you for taking this time to look it over. And most importantly, please share with others and get the word out.
