Happy Saturday from all of us at Hickman County EMS. We would like to THANK everyone who showed us some love this week. The support of community means everything . Thank you to Ascension St Thomas Hickman, Ms Cheeves for the sweet treats, LifeFlight, AirEvac, PapaKJoes, the Barnhill Family, Holt Construction, Linata’s Catering, TriStar Horizon, and to others that I am sure I have failed to mention. The food was amazing but allowing our crews just a few minutes of time to spend fellowshipping with each other was far more.
Thank you to a community that rally’s around us, you all are amazing! I didn’t get pictures everyday, but I tried!
Not only did this week bring about great food and fellowship, but also brought about training from Stryker on our new cardiac monitors that will be deployed next week!

With all going on in Hickman County we would like to take a moment and recognize the hard work and dedication that members of Hickman County EMS, City of Centerville FD, Centerville PD, Central Communications, Coble FD, and Vanderbilt Life Flight made on one early morning in 2025.

That morning began with Central Communications receiving an alert that there had been a crash and there was no further contact. All agencies were notified and the site was quickly found, Crews found a severely mangled vehicle with a single occupant inside that it would take over an hour to extricate. The scene was dark and very challenging due to debris and hazards. If it were not for first and foremost God, the hours of training, the years of expertise, and the ability of each of these individuals to perform seamlessly together that patient may not be alive today.

One thing that keeps resounding in my mind over and over from last night is a phrase that kept repeating itself and that is, "All the stars aligned on this call." There are eight EMS regions within the State of Tennessee and each of them had their own story last night. A total of 12 awards were presented last night and each of them came with a story. These are stories that came with great tragedy where selfless men and women stepped in and provided extraordinary care. Region 6 is our region and last night our crews were the recipients of the recognition for their call.

EMS Staff training with Medical Director and a team of physicians from TriStar. This is not just us maintaining our licensure: it’s your street personnel maintaining a skill set that provides life saving interventions when needed.
The staff that provides care in Hickman County are some of the best and we are very fortunate to work with a medical director that provides us with this training!

UPDATE: We are thankful to those who have reached out to us and that have agreed to provide a meal for our crews. We still have two days that week if you would like to provide a meal for lunch or supper let me know.

EMS Week is May 17-23 and we are looking for persons and/or businesses that would be willing to sponsor a meal for our crews that week. We are planning a service picnic with fun and games with our crews and their families during that week also, but thought the community might like a chance to be involved also.
