Join the Centerville Police Department in congratulating Roger Mays and Kim Deal on their retirement from Dispatch.

Roger Mays has been serving since 1992. During his service he has worked as a part time police officer, the TAC, and most recently as the dispatch supervisor. He has been a constant professional and leader at dispatch.

Kim Deal has been serving since 2004. During her service she has participated in the First responders for children's Christmas, been a constant professional, and always willing to help.

Both of these individuals have been the first responder in numerous emergencies, and essential in getting help to the citizens of Hickman County during some of their worst days. Their knowledge, character and professionalism will be greatly missed

We wish them both the best in retirement, and their future.

A line of thunderstorms currently near the Mississippi River will be making their way into Middle TN soon. First up will be areas west of I-65 with the highest severe threat between 8PM and 12AM. Stay alert for damaging winds along with the possibility of tornadoes. If you're going to bed early, make sure you have a way to be notified in case a warning is issued for your area.

Severe Weather Update for Sunday into Early Monday

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded much of Middle Tennessee, including Hickman County, to an ENHANCED RISK for severe weather.

This is a change from earlier outlooks and means the threat level has increased.

Timing
Late Sunday afternoon through the overnight hours into early Monday morning.

What we could see
• Damaging straight-line winds
• Isolated tornadoes
• Large hail
• Heavy rain

An Enhanced Risk means numerous severe storms are possible. Not everyone will see severe weather, but conditions are becoming more favorable for stronger storms to develop.

Now is the time to prepare
• Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially overnight
• Charge phones and weather radios
• Review your severe weather plan
• Secure outdoor items ahead of increasing winds

We do not want to alarm anyone, but we do want everyone to be ready. It is too early to know exact storm timing or tornado potential for specific neighborhoods, but we are watching this system closely.

We will continue to provide updates as new information comes in.

Stay weather aware, Hickman County.
