The Centerville Police Department is accepting applications for open positions.
Pay: $21.63 an hour before academy, $24.17 an hour after graduation from a twelve-week police academy.
Certified officers start at $24.17 an hour.
Pay could be adjusted for certified officers based on experience.
Benefits: include health, vision, dental insurance, vacation, and sick time. Retirement offered through TCRS.
Officers work five eight-hour shifts with a take home car program, overtime is available. Uniforms, training, and equipment are provided.
An officer’s duties include, but are not limited to, investigating property damage, injury, and fatal motor vehicle crashes. Respond to and investigate deaths, shootings, stabbings, assaults, robberies, thefts, burglaries, and other crimes or calls for service within the city limits of Centerville.
Applications may be picked up at City Hall or printed online at www.townofcenterville.com.
Completed applications may be turned in at The Police Dept.
Applicants must complete a physical agility test, written test, background check, physical, psychological exam, and drug screen.
Minimum Requirements:
• Be a citizen of the United States
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Have a valid TN driver’s license.
• Have a good moral character.

The Centerville Police Department’s Special Response team led training for all SROs that are assigned to the Hickman County Schools on July 7th & 8Th. Officers conducted multiple scenarios at each school with every SRO completing a one officer response to an armed intruder at their assigned school. The training consisted of force-on-force training. Role players and SROs used G***k training pistols, SRO rifles equipped with training bolts, and simunitions ammunition to conduct realistic training. These trainings were based on previous incidents and required officers to respond accordingly. SROs also worked in teams and as a whole group during multiple scenarios.

Thank you to Hickman County Emergency Management Agency , Hickman County Sheriff's Office, Hickman-Centerville 911 Dispatch and our local TWRA Lane Coulter
for their participation in the training also.

We appreciate the cooperation of the Hickman County School System to allow us to conduct this training to ensure officers are prepared to respond to an incident.

The Centerville Police Department and Hickman County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting training at all Hickman County Schools this week. We will be at the Centerville Schools on July 7 and the East Schools on July 8.

Use caution in there area of the bridge on July 3rd due to increased traffic. Officers with the Centerville Police Department will be assisting with traffic and safety during the event.

⚠️ Extreme Heat Warning for All of Hickman County ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for all of Hickman County beginning Monday at 11:00 AM and lasting through Thursday at 8:00 PM.

Heat index values could reach 110°, and even at night temperatures will only drop into the mid to upper 70s. That means there won't be much relief after the sun goes down.

Start drinking extra water today so you're hydrated before the hottest temperatures arrive. If you have to be outside, take frequent breaks, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, and try to get outdoor work done early in the morning or later in the evening.

Please take a few minutes to check on your family, neighbors, and anyone you know who may be more vulnerable to the heat, especially older adults, those with medical conditions, young children, and anyone without reliable air conditioning. A quick phone call or visit could make a big difference.

And as always, never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—even for a minute.

Let's all look out for each other and do what we can to stay safe over the next several days.

Officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 100. Officers assisted Hickman County EMS and Centerville City Fire with extrication of the victim, and worked the crash. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported by EMS. Excellent teamwork by all agencies involved.

We urge everyone to use caution while driving in the rain.

Join the Centerville Police Department in congratulating Roger Mays and Kim Deal on their retirement from Dispatch.

Roger Mays has been serving since 1992. During his service he has worked as a part time police officer, the TAC, and most recently as the dispatch supervisor. He has been a constant professional and leader at dispatch.

Kim Deal has been serving since 2004. During her service she has participated in the First responders for children's Christmas, been a constant professional, and always willing to help.

Both of these individuals have been the first responder in numerous emergencies, and essential in getting help to the citizens of Hickman County during some of their worst days. Their knowledge, character and professionalism will be greatly missed

We wish them both the best in retirement, and their future.
