Children and their families who participated in our summer reading programs and tracked their reading minutes throughout June and July earned a well-deserved celebration at the pool. It was a wonderful way to recognize all of their hard work and dedication to reading this summer.

Everyone had a ๐†๐‘๐„๐€๐“ time swimming, visiting with friends, and celebrating another successful Summer Reading Program! Thank you to the City of Central City for making this special event possible, and thank you to all of the families who participated. What a great group of kiddos we had at the library today (July 23)! ๐Ÿฆ•๐ŸŽจ

Using Model Magic, each child created their own unique dinosaur! They chose their favorite colors, looked at dinosaur examples for inspiration, and followed step-by-step instructions to create colorful prehistoric masterpieces.

The best part? No two dinosaurs looked alike! It was wonderful to see everyone's creativity shine. Many children also received help from older siblings, friends, and parents, making it a fun activity for the whole family.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made today's program such a success!

Next week, on ๐“๐ก๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐š๐ฒ, ๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ, we'll wrap up our summer programs with our annual ๐Œ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ž ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ in the library meeting room. ๐Ÿฟ Popcorn will be provided by Preferred Popcorn. Renee Hunt from Humanities Nebraska visited the library on July 16 to present ๐…๐จ๐จ๐ญ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‡๐š๐ง๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ: ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐…๐š๐ซ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐ญ๐ก ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฒ. She and her husband were outstanding presenters, and everyone enjoyed learning what daily life was like on an early Nebraska farm.

Participants had the opportunity to see and learn about a variety of old tools and household utensils while asking lots of great questions throughout the program.

Our July Story Time was full of smiles, stories, and creativity! ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŠ

Ms. Sally read ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† ๐‘พ๐’‚๐’•๐’†๐’“๐’Ž๐’†๐’๐’๐’ ๐‘บ๐’†๐’†๐’… and ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ซ๐’๐’๐’Œ๐’†๐’š ๐‘ฌ๐’ˆ๐’ˆ, then the children practiced their counting skills by counting crocodiles and used dot markers to create their own crocodile craft.

The highlight of the morning was painting! The children used watercolor paints to create the crocodile character from The Watermelon Seed and took home a tongue depressor to make their own stick puppet.

Before heading home, each child received two take-home activities: one to identify things that come from seeds and another to learn about the life cycle of a watermelon.
