Public Housing Waiting List Closing Notice

The Central Falls Housing Authority (CFHA) will close its Public Housing Waiting List on May 15, 2026 at 4:00 PM. After this time, CFHA will no longer accept new applications for the Public Housing Program.

This action is taken in accordance with 24 CFR § 982.206(a)–(c), which permits Public Housing Agencies to open or close waiting lists based on the number of applicants and the ability to meet projected housing needs. CFHA has determined that the current waiting list contains an adequate number of applicants.

Applications submitted on or before May 15, 2026 at 4:00 PM will be processed and placed on the waiting list.
Applications will not be accepted after the closing date.
The waiting list will reopen when additional applicants are needed.

CENTRAL FALLS STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY!

NAHRO Merit College Scholarship
Applications due by June 12th, 2026

The NAHRO Merit College Scholarship Program awards a one-time payment of $3,000 each to eight scholars, one from each NAHRO region, who are pursuing their first post-secondary degree (scholars applying for a master’s degree or a Ph.D are not eligible). Each NAHRO region submits an applicant of their choice from their own scholarship program. If no regional scholarship program is in place, the region will select one eligible applicant to complete the NAHRO Merit College Scholarship application.

NAHRO-LDG Scholars Program

The NAHRO-LDG Scholars Program is a 10-year venture that will provide $1 million in scholarships and internship opportunities to low-income students from around the country and is funded by the award-winning multi-family housing developer, LDG Development.

In addition to the one-time scholarship provided through the NAHRO Merit College Scholarship, NAHRO-LDG Scholars will receive:
• A $12,000 scholarship distributed over four years to assist with tuition and university affiliated housing expenses
• An opportunity to earn up to $9,000 in stipends for summer internships and other approved activities that support the student’s academic matriculation
• Networking opportunities with business and community leaders
All scholarship funds are sent directly to the accredited institution of higher education or university housing official once proof of registration is received.

Who Is Eligible
• Living in a household, or provided a housing-related service, managed by a NAHRO member agency in good standing;
• A graduating high school senior, or an individual possessing a high school diploma or GED; and
• Applying to or attending an accredited institution of higher education in pursuit of their first post-secondary degree on a full-time basis. Masters and PhD students are not eligible. •

Wednesday (Miercoles) 10:00 a.m. to 12: p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Resident Services Coordinator Walk in Hours:
Tuesday (Martes) 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday (Jueves) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m

CFHA Operations Update – February 25,2026

Our maintenance team continue to work tirelessly clearing our properties. Thursday our concentration will be on sidewalks at all sites.

For the safety of our staff and participants, administrative staff will work remotely tomorrow and Friday and our offices will remain closed. All staff are available by telephone or email and are ready to assist you. This includes the cancellation of all HCV and PH inspections.

Maintenance and Executive Staff will remain on-site. Our teams will be available to assist any landlord, public housing resident, or Housing Choice Voucher participant with immediate needs.
