On May 9, 2012 members of the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force arrested Joseph Kurz of Grants Pass for 33 counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse. Kurz was arrested after the task force conducted a proactive investigation and determined his computer was responsible for distributing images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of prepubescent children. We were there...where were you? Last night the SOHTCTF was ready to deliver a free two-hour Internet safety class for parents and kids at the Talent Middle School and not one person attended. Did you know that 1 in 7 kids are sexually solicited online, and last year alone the SOHTCTF investigated 97 local cases of child sexual exploitation?

The task force will be holding one final free Internet safety class on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mae Richardson Elementary School in Central Point. After this class, there will be no further classes offered in the near future due to a lack of attendance in the last several classes. If you want to go to one of our presentations and haven't made it yet, this will be the one to make!

Please help us keep our kids and communities safe in cyber space.
