๐Ÿšจ INCIDENT UPDATE: EARLY MORNING DECK FIRE ๐Ÿšจ

Early this morning at approximately 1:18 AM, Onondaga County 911 activated the Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department for a reported deck fire. Initial dispatch notes indicated that the homeowner was actively attempting to extinguish the flames with a garden hose. Given the serious nature of the call, Onondaga County 911 automatically triggered a mutual aid response, bringing in crucial assistance from our partners at the Brewerton, Phoenix, Central Square, and Clay Fire Departments.

Brewerton Car 2 was the first chief officer to arrive on the scene and quickly declared a Signal 98. This rapid control of the fire was thanks entirely to the fast, heads-up thinking of the homeowner who used their garden hose to contain the initial danger.

Shortly after, Caughdenoy Car 1 arrived on scene to assume overall Command of the incident, while Brewerton Car 2 managed Operations and Phoenix Car 2 took on the role of Safety Officer. As the first-due apparatus, Caughdenoy Rescue/Pumper 2 arrived on scene, stretched a handline, and completed the final extinguishment and overhaul.

Caughdenoy Fire extends our deepest appreciation to our mutual aid partners. The rapid turnout, professionalism, and seamless coordination displayed by Brewerton, Phoenix, Central Square, and Clay Fire Departments are exactly what keeps our communities safe. Thanks to the immediate actions of the homeowner and the incredible teamwork of all responding departments, a major disaster was successfully averted. Excellent job by everyone involved!

๐ŸŒŠ Water Rescue ๐ŸŒŠ

Around 6:40 this evening, Caughdenoy was activated as part of the Oneida Lake Task Force for a reported boat in distress on the lake. Inital 3rd party reports indicated that the boat had lost power and was unable to move from its location east of Frenchman/Dunham islands.

Caughdenoy Squad 1 and Drone (Lt. Francis, Lt. L. Millett, FF C. Millett) responded to the area of the lakeshore road on the south shore of the lake in hopes to gain a visual on the boat in question. After nearly a half hour of searching in multiple areas and with numerous police and fire boats and drones, first responders were unable to locate any boats in distress. All units were cleared from the water approximately one hour after being activated.
