Reader's Choice Book Club meets this Tuesday, September 8th at 1:00 in the library!

No need to register, just come on in!

There is no specific book to read for this book club. Just come on in and talk about the book you're reading!

Everyone gets time to talk about their books, so you'll leave here with more books to add to your "To Be Read" list!

September is here! Check out our calendar of events below.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Come in between September 1st-30th to sign up for a library card and you will receive a free bookish gift! Share the news and help us reach our goal of 30 new cards this month.

Tuesday, September 1st:
-6:30: Evening Book Club: This month the Club will be discussing, "The Story She Left Behind," by Patti Callahan Henry. New members always welcome. Didn't read the book? No problem, all levels of participation are welcome.

Monday, September 7th:
-CLOSED in Observance of Labor Day

Tuesday, September 8th:
-1:00: Reader's Choice Book Club: Joining this book club is easy! Read a book of your choice and come prepared to briefly discuss it. This is a great way to find new books and authors!

Mondays at 10:30 Storytime for Ages 5 and Under! Themes are listed below.
14th: Grandparents are Great!
21st: Pinata Party
28th: Awesome Apples

Tuesday, September 15th:
-12:00 Trivia for Adults Lunchtime Session
-6:00 Trivia for Adults Evening Session
Both sessions are held at Good Golly’s Family Restaurant. Preregistration Required.

Wednesday, August 16th:
-3:00 Library Board of Trustees Meeting. Please note the special day and time of this rescheduled Board of Trustees Meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Saturday, September 19th:
-1:00 Cinema Saturday. FREE showing of "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" ©Universal Pictures, Rated: PG, Runtime: 98 minutes. Come enjoy a family movie afternoon with snacks, drinks, and activity sheets.

Mondays at 1:00 "Chicks with Sticks" Knitting and Crochet Group. Open for all ages and all skill levels. Bring those fall weather projects!

Check out how much fun we had during our Summer Storytime Series!

We kicked off Summer Reading and our Summer Storytime Series with an extra special Sky Zone Storytime!

Then we launched into our big Unearth a Story theme! We enjoyed dino-mite themes all summer long! From transforming into lil-paleontologists, digging in the dirt, and dinosaur yoga, we had a great time unearthing stories this year! The Series ended with a carnival with dinosaur prizes.

The fun will return soon! Storytime for kids ages 5 and under will resume on Monday, September 14th!

ADULTS AND TEENS! All Book-opoly boards are due tomorrow! It doesn't matter how many books you read, or color groups you finished! All boards returned will get at least 1 entry for the grand prize drawing! There will be a teen prize and an adult prize, so stop on in for a chance to win!

Check out this recap of our 2026 Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program!

This year's Summer Reading Program was a record-breaking success!

Here are the fast stats on this year's Program:

150 Participants (Doubled from last year)
78 Reading Logs Returned (More than doubled from last year)
4000+ Tickets Earned
33 Prizes Awarded
16 Children's Programs
465 Program Attendees

We would like to extend a huge thank-you to our sponsors and donors, especially the Friends of the Central Square Library!

The Friends provided many of this year's children's raffle prizes, donated amazing dinosaur decorations (have you met Skeley, the huge 3-D printed T-rex, yet?), provided some weekly prizes to help encourage library visits, and sponsored a bookmark design contest! The Friends also connected us with the Brayleigh's Wings foundation which also provided some raffle prizes, books, and activities for the kids (More about this amazing opportunity coming soon).

We would also like to thank than Life for donating Pokemon cards for raffle prizes and graphic novels to help build our collection.

Thanks also to Howard at Music for donating raffle prizes and providing the colored bags for the raffle tickets.

Thank you to Quilter LLC for the adorable, quilted dinosaur bookmarks.

Thank you to Catering by Chef Jeff for serving up some tasty hot dogs and chips at the End of Summer Reading Party!

The Central Square Library hosted its End of Summer Reading Party on Friday, August 21st at Goettel Park. 114 people came to celebrate with us! Many thanks to Jeff the Magic Man for his dino-mite magic and balloon show! Smiles and giggles were had by all!

We can't wait for next year!

Only 3 days left! All Book-opoly boards are due back on or before this coming Monday, August 31st.

If you can't make it to us during our open hours, you can drop them in the drop-box by our front door, they just need to be back to us by 6pm on Monday.

We're only 1 week away! This summer's Book-opoly ends next Monday!

Return your Book-opoly boards to us by Monday, August 31st and every color group completed earns a ticket! You can still earn a ticket even if you didn't complete a color group... we appreciate your effort!

Our Children's Summer Reading Program may have come to an end, but there is still some time left for summer fun!

Book a summer reading road trip today! This week marks the last week to participate in the Oswego County Libraries Summer Reading Passport program (see below for more details).

Our Summer Storytime Series has come to an end, but there will still be fun things to discover in our children's room. Celebrate the heat of summer with some beach color-by-number pages and make-and-take crafts like scratch art and sticker shark picture frames!

Monday, 8/24

Just as a reminder, there will be no Storytime this week. Storytime will resume on Monday, September 14th.

1:00-Chicks with Sticks Knitting and Crochet Group. Join this all-ages, all-skill-levels group to complete or begin your summer yarn projects!

Wednesday, August 26th

By Appointment only, we will be hosting the Oswego County Office for the Aging. Call 315-349-3484 to make an appointment.

Friday, August 28th

All-day- Last day to submit your Oswego County Summer Reading Passports!

Stop into any Oswego County Library to pick up your passport. Then visit 4 or more Oswego County Libraries to collect stamps for a chance to win some bookish gift cards! This is an all-ages activity. One Passport entry per person. Deadline for submission is, Friday, August 28th to any Oswego County Library.

Just a smidge less than 2 weeks left for all you Book-opoly readers! The boards are due back on or before August 31st!

Didn't get much reading done? That's okay! It's been a bit of a crazy summer...and we don't judge...we're just happy to see your faces!

All returned boards get at least 1 ticket toward the grand prize drawing, even if you didn't complete a color group.

Oh, and there's a prize for teens AND a prize for adults!
