Happy 24th Birthday to Firefighter Rachel Neubauer from all of us at Centralia Firefighters Local 618!

Rachel comes to work every shift ready to learn, ready to work, and ready to prove that she can keep up with a station full of guys who communicate almost entirely through sarcasm.

At 24, she’s already built a reputation as a hard worker who’s always asking questions, wanting to improve, and willing to jump in wherever she’s needed. She also somehow manages to survive daily onslaughts of firehouse humor and has became very good at returning it back.

If the topic is horses, she’s an expert. If the topic is literally any actor, musician, or famous person from the last 40 years, she looks at us like we’re speaking another language.

We’re proud to have her as part of the department and even prouder of the firefighter she’s becoming. We hope your birthday is a great one, Rachel. Just remember: before next shift, we expect you to finally watch at least one classic movie so these guys can stop explaining every joke to you. SUPERSTAR!

Today we honor and celebrate the retirement of Fire Chief Jeff Day after an incredible 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Centralia Fire Department.
Chief Day began his career on March 11, 1996, when he first took the oath as a firefighter. Through years of hard work, leadership, and commitment to our community, he rose through the ranks—being promoted to Lieutenant on October 11, 2013, Captain on October 23, 2017, and ultimately Fire Chief on June 6, 2022.

For three decades, Chief Day has served the citizens of Centralia with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the fire service. His leadership has helped shape the department, mentor countless firefighters, and strengthen the safety of our community.

Chief Day, thank you for your years of sacrifice, guidance, and dedication. Your impact on this department and this city will be felt for many years to come.
