With permission from the family we have designed and will be selling Memorial T-shirts for Capt. Trey Mullins for $25. These will be Heather Gray with a front pocket and full back design. We have included pictures of the design, but for legal reasons there is a watermark. It will of course be removed before printing. The proceeds of these will be going into a memorial fund in Trey’s name at the Fire Department per the family’s request. There is a PayPal account opened under and a CashApp under $MtWeisnerVFD. In the subject line please put t-shirts and what sizes you need. If you need to pay cash please reach out to Brittany Cheyenne Lee directly as she is the department’s member handling these. This allows it to all be kept together. Shirts will not be ordered until all payment is received. This order will run for 2-3 weeks before it is placed. Thank you all for your support and continued prayers for his family.

After discussing it with Trey’s wife and girls, they have decided that after his Memorial at Thompson the family will receive family and friends and any food anyone wants to give at Mt. Weisner Station 2 on County Road 71 in Centre. They plan to be there to eat about 5:30 on tomorrow evening, Friday the 21st. Anyone that wants to give food please just let us know, we have members ready and willing to open the fire hall and will have someone sat there tomorrow holding it open most of the day. We will also do Trey’s Last Call for the department during this time. Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of this to celebrate Trey’s life and legacy. Please continue to pray for his family and our department during this tragic time.

Please pray for our department and his family as we have lost one of our long time members today. Mr. James Trey Mullins has went home to the Lord. He was an amazing friend, fantastic fireman, and even better person. Rest easy brother, we have it from here!

We tried our best but thankfully she left notes. 📝

🌧 Rain has been hit and miss across the state this week.
☀️Parts of the state have gone 50+ days without significant rainfall.
🔥This can lead to intense fires because while the rain was beneficial, it will only help for a few days before fire activity returns.

Although the agency has not yet issued any restrictions, dry conditions lead to the escape of prescribed fires, even for seasoned professionals.

❌We have gotten a few questions about why we haven’t issued a ‘No Burn’. The current conditions are not severe enough to constitute the issuing of burn restrictions by the AFC.

📢Alabama Forestry Commission urging caution against wildfires Friday with dry conditions, gusty winds, dropping relative humidity📢

With forecasts calling for elevated wind speeds across the state, the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) strongly discourages any outdoor burning until conditions improve. With a significant uptick in wildfire ignitions over the last week – including more than 60 on Wednesday – the agency also points to dropping relative humidity in the afternoon as especially concerning.

In addition to already dry conditions, gusty winds and low relative humidities combine to create dangerous wildfire behavior. The combination of these conditions creates a greater-than-average potential for outdoor fires to escape easily and spread rapidly, taking longer – and more of the agency’s firefighting resources – to contain and ultimately control. Fast-moving wildfires not only destroy property and forests but also threaten the lives of citizens and endanger firefighters.

Permits for outdoor burning will not be issued by the agency on Friday, February 28. Anyone who burns a field, grassland, or woodland without a burn permit may be subject to prosecution for committing a Class B misdemeanor.

In the last seven days, 130 wildfires have burned approximately 3,000 acres of forestland across the state. This includes two large wildfires in Calhoun County (a 550-acre and a 207-acre with two structures lost), one for 253 acres in Lowndes County, and three others over 100 acres in Perry, Pike, and St. Clair counties.

The Alabama Forestry Commission is the state agency committed to protecting Alabama’s invaluable forest assets as well as its citizens. To report a wildfire, call (800) 392-5679. For more information on the current wildfire situation in the state or any other forestry-related issues, contact your local AFC office or visit the agency website at www.forestry.alabama.gov.
