🙋🙋‍♂️As students return to classrooms for a new school year, Character Counts of Queen Anne's County is seeking community members to volunteer as Character Counts! coaches in local schools.

Character Counts! coaches are caring adults who spend time in classrooms helping students explore the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Through conversations, activities and age-appropriate lessons, coaches help students understand how these values can be applied at school, at home and throughout their community.

Volunteer coaches are currently needed at schools throughout Queen Anne’s County, with a particular need for coaches at Sudlersville Elementary School.
No teaching experience is required to become a coach. Character Counts! provides volunteers with training, lesson ideas, resources and ongoing support to help make their classroom visits successful.

Character Counts! is built on the belief that children and youth benefit from having caring and supportive adults in their lives. By volunteering in a classroom, coaches have an opportunity to build positive connections with local students while reinforcing the values that help create a stronger community.

🎶QACPS doesn’t just teach the arts, we live them!

QACPS music educator Heather Fullerton joined Alexander L., tuba; Luke P., alto saxophone, and Caroline S., flute. in the Courthouse Band for its opening performance at Summerfest on Friday, August 21!

Their performance reflects an important part of our mission: encouraging our teachers to “stay artists!” When educators continue to create, perform, and share their talents, they lead by example, showing students that the arts are not simply something we study, but something we carry throughout our lives.

We are proud of Alexander, Luke, Caroline, and Heather for sharing their artistry!
