It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Will Roberts, the son of ALEA SBI Captain Jason and Brittney Roberts, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

While words cannot fully capture the depth of this loss, we also recognize the powerful impact Will had on those around him. Through his unwavering faith in Jesus, he was a source of strength, hope and inspiration to many. His courage and trust in the Lord, even in the face of unimaginable challenges, touched lives far beyond his years and left a lasting imprint on all who followed his journey.

As an Agency family, we stand together in offering our deepest condolences, prayers and unwavering support to them during this incredibly difficult time.

We ask that you keep the Roberts family in your thoughts and prayers.

June 29, 2022… A Day Bibb County Will Never Forget.

Sheriff Jody Wade, the deputies, and the staff of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office remember June 29, 2022, like it was yesterday.

That afternoon, Sheriff Wade received the call that every sheriff fears—two of his deputies had been shot in the line of duty.

Those deputies were not just members of his agency; they were his friends.

Sheriff Wade has often recalled responding to the scene and the heartbreak he felt as the tragedy unfolded. Deputy Brad Johnson and Investigator Christopher Poole were both shot while courageously serving the citizens of Bibb County.

Deputy Brad Johnson made the ultimate sacrifice, passing away on June 30, 2022. His service, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we remember this tragic day, Sheriff Wade asks everyone across Bibb County to please keep Brad’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Their loss is one that continues to be felt every single day.

He also asks that you continue to remember Investigator Christopher Poole, who survived the attack and continues to serve his community while carrying the physical and emotional scars of that day.

June 29, 2022, forever changed the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, but it also strengthened our commitment to honor those who wear the badge and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We will never forget Deputy Brad Johnson.
We will always stand beside his family.
And we will continue to pray for Investigator Christopher Poole and all the other deputies and officers , dispatchers that responded that day .

End of Watch: Deputy Brad Johnson

Sheriff Jody Wade is proud to recognize the continued professional development and dedication of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Last week, Investigators Josh Averette and Chris Jackson successfully completed the 40-hour Digital Evidence Investigations Program through the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) in Hoover, Alabama. This specialized training, provided through the United States Secret Service, equips investigators with advanced skills in digital evidence identification, preservation, and investigation.

Their achievement adds to the extensive digital forensics capabilities already within the Criminal Investigations Division. In 2022, Investigator Chris Poole completed the prestigious 152-hour Mobile Device Examiners Course through NCFI, earning certification in advanced mobile device forensics.
With these certifications, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office now has
three certified digital forensic investigators, enhancing our ability to investigate crimes involving cell phones, computers, digital evidence, and emerging technology-related offenses.

Sheriff Wade extends his appreciation to Senator April Weaver for her assistance in helping connect our agency with the resources necessary to participate in this outstanding training opportunity. We also thank the National Computer Forensics Institute and the United States Secret Service for their continued commitment to providing world-class training to law enforcement professionals.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investing in training and technology to better serve and protect the citizens of Bibb County.
