Applications are now being accepted for the Ceres Planning Commission (Commission). There is one (1) upcoming vacancy on the committee, which will serve January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2030. Residents of Ceres are encouraged to apply.

The Commission considers land use matters such as zone changes, conditional use permits, variances, subdivisions and general plan amendments. Members serve four-year, staggered terms.

The five (5) member committee meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. To be eligible to serve on the commission, one must be a resident within the city limits of the City of Ceres.

Deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Yesterday, City of Ceres Code Enforcement and Public Works Street Division staff completed a significant cleanup at the Triple R property pursuant to an abatement warrant signed on August 18, 2026.
City crews worked throughout the area to address longstanding blight and nuisance conditions, including:
• Removing graffiti
• Clearing overgrown weeds and vegetation
• Addressing other unsightly nuisance conditions
• Pressure washing and cleaning the property
This cleanup was a long time coming and represents an important step toward improving the appearance and condition of this property.
As we continue addressing issues at this location, we also have a responsibility to be good stewards of public funds. The City will be working with the City Attorney’s Office to pursue appropriate measures, including placing a lien on the property when legally authorized, to recover costs associated with future abatement and cleanup efforts. Our goal is to ensure that the financial burden of maintaining private property does not unnecessarily fall on Ceres taxpayers.
Thank you to our Code Enforcement and Public Works staff for the time, effort, and coordination it took to make this happen. Projects like this require persistence and teamwork, and their work makes a visible difference in our community.
We appreciate everyone involved in helping make Ceres a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming place to live, work, and visit.

💧 HATCH AREA WATER SERVICE RESTORED

The overnight water shutoff and valve replacement work in the Hatch area was successfully completed, and all water service was restored by 4:00 a.m.

This concludes this portion of the City’s water valve replacement work. Thank you to all affected residents and businesses for your patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout these shutdowns.

The City may need to complete one additional water shutdown in the Richard Avenue and Richland Avenue area to replace another broken valve.

If that shutdown is necessary, notices will be distributed in advance with the scheduled date, time, affected area, and additional information.

We appreciate the community’s continued patience as we work to maintain and improve the City of Ceres water system.

💧 WATER SERVICE RESTORED

📣 CITY HALL MAIN LOBBY IS NOW OPEN

The City of Ceres is pleased to announce that the main City Hall lobby has reopened and normal operations have resumed following completion of the recent sewer lateral and lobby improvement work.

The main entrance is once again available for customers needing assistance from Planning, Building, Engineering, Finance, and other City Hall services. During construction, visitors were temporarily redirected to the utilities lobby entrance on 2nd Street while work was completed.

Thank you to our residents, businesses, and City staff for your patience and understanding throughout the project.

All City Hall operations are now back to normal.
