Ceres Police Department – Fourth of July Safety Reminder
As we approach the Fourth of July holiday, the Ceres Police Department urges everyone to celebrate responsibly and safely.

The City of Ceres and the Ceres Police Department will be taking a zero-tolerance approach to illegal fireworks. Violators may face arrest and/or a fine of up to $2,500.00. Illegal fireworks not only pose a serious fire hazard and cause injuries each year, but they can also deeply affect veterans and others sensitive to loud explosions. Additionally, the loud noises can terrify pets, often causing them to run away from their homes.

We also want to remind the community that modifying any firework—whether legal or illegal—is a felony offense. Please do not alter fireworks in any way.
To determine whether a firework is legal, look for the State of California “Safe and Sane” Fireworks logo. As a general rule, any firework that launches into the air or produces loud explosive sounds is illegal.

Let’s work together to keep our neighborhoods safe and enjoyable for everyone this Fourth of July. Please be respectful of your neighbors, our veterans, and the safety of your community.

Celebrate responsibly. Celebrate safely.

The fire service is one big family and as such we help each other when needed. has services today for one of their members who has passed. Many fire departments have come to Modesto to help cover their fire stations so that their members may attend the services.
