Here is what I finally got from the Supt's office in response to my request for clarification for stopping me from speaking at the board meeting.

10/04 - Board member Sophia tried to stop me from speaking.
10/18 - Board again tried to stop me citing a meeting with the legal counsel and their interpretation of code they did not share with me.

I insisted on a response and finally got the below.

I am reviewing it with my legal counsel and hope to give it a badly needed clarity to benefit all in future, especially for the candidates.

As your board member, my number one priority will be the unification of the board and stop the infighting which was at display at the last board meeting to select three members to the Supt. appointment committee. A united board can get a lot done for the ABCUSD residents who will be my only priority for the next four years.

As your board member, I will be accessible to all ABCUSD residents who will be my only priority for the next four years. We don't need the distraction when board members run for other public offices while in office as seen during recent years, which should be concerning to all ABCUSD residents.

Thank you all for joining my first virtual Town Hall and making it engaging, informative and interesting.

There was a retired teacher who has been with ABCUSD for 25 years. She was complaining about the low pay for ABCUSD teachers. She was also wondering about how the board decided to appoint CFO with no academic background as the interim superintendent. We agreed that parents and teachers should speak up at the board meetings if they have strong opinion and let the board and superintendent know what they want.

Another local volunteer wanted to share his work at skidrow with ABCUSD and get volunteers to help him. He also mentioned that he can donate some goodies to ABCUSD schools. I suggested him to speak at the next board meeting on 10/18.

A mom wanted to know more about the GATE program. She wanted to know who stopped it and why it was stopped. In future, I suggested her to check with her principal and PTA or Education foundation and if they don't give her answer speak to her board member and at the board meeting.

The mom also wanted Cerritos elementary to implement art programs like Leal Elementary and was not getting support from her principal. I explained her how the magnet school programs work and suggested her to understand the focus of each school and enroll her student to the one that best matches her kids interests. Stop enrolling your kid based on API score alone.
This is one of the real purpose of school of choice which is being abused by many parents creating some overcrowded schools and some with less than 50% enrollment.
