When House Republicans lead, we cut taxes. Case in point, today the House approved the largest tax cut in PA history. The legislation would eliminate the nearly 6% gross receipts tax on utility bills, cutting taxes on Pennsylvania’s families by $1.7 billion. That’s real money back in your wallets. This move goes with our long-standing belief that you are better off when you have more of your own money to spend as you choose and the government gets out of the way.

On Wednesday, the Franklin County Commissioners recognized the Franklin County Conservation District, PA for its 70 years of service to our region.

The Franklin County Conservation District was formally established in 1956 through the leadership and commitment of local farmers, landowners and community leaders dedicated to the conservation of soil, water and natural resources. Over its seven decades, the organization has partnered with county leaders, agricultural producers, municipalities and residents to protect the county’s natural resources, improve water quality, soil health and erosion control, all while advancing conservation practices that benefit local communities and beyond.

The Conservation District's 70th anniversary marks an important milestone recognizing the dedication of its staff, board members, partners and volunteers. The commissioners expressed their gratitude to the organization's service to Franklin County, its residents, communities, industries and for continuing conservation efforts to preserve the county’s natural resources for future generations.

Two Franklin County farms will remain open space for generations to come after two families opted to save their farms through Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program. J. Andrew and Sandra Lee Gingrich preserved their 118-acre crop farm in Peters Township and Steven L. and Lynn M. Hykes preserved their 141-acre crop and livestock farm, Antrim Township.

Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program partners with local governments and nonprofits to purchase development rights to preserve farmland. By selling development rights, farm owners ensure their farms remain in agricultural production and are never sold to developers.

My Washington, D.C. office was honored to welcome Alex Kaczmark of Chambersburg, along with his parents, Courtney and Ryan, and his sister, Macie, as he prepares to embark on his journey to the U.S. Air Force Academy as a member of the Class of 2030.

In a time when our nation depends on the next generation of leaders to carry forward the values that have made America strong, he represents the very best of Pennsylvania and our country. God bless him, and God bless the United States of America.

FCRC Chairman Fred Young, his wife MaryAnn, and FCRC & State Committee Member Kathy Mahon had the pleasure of helping celebrate a very special birthday today.

Sam Worley turned 105 years old yesterday, and family and friends gathered at his Chambersburg home to mark the occasion. It was a wonderful afternoon spent honoring a man who has witnessed more than a century of history and change.

Happy 105th Birthday, Sam! What an incredible milestone.
