On Friday, June 12, I'm partnering with the Citizens Utility Board to host a utility bill clinic from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Danville Public Library! Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about programs and strategies that can help lower your utility bill, how to spot unnecessary charges on your electric or gas bill, and income-qualified financial assistance programs.

Putting too much focus on student loan repayment status in hiring and procurement may very well be deterring Illinoisans from applying for jobs with the state. These processes are already difficult for both agencies and residents, so we shouldn’t be inadvertently following red-tape policies that keep otherwise qualified residents from our state workforce. I was proud to advance this measure out of the Senate today to ensure Illinoisans who fall behind on their student loan repayment aren't punished into a lifetime of debt.

A measure I supported that would provide ongoing, accessible railroad safety education to students in Illinois' public schools is one step closer to becoming law after passing the Senate yesterday. Providing students, families, faculty and staff with comprehensive railroad safety education is common sense for helping our youth avoid preventable injuries and fatalities.
