The Illinois State Archaeological Survey investigates, preserves, and interprets the archaeological heritage of Illinois within the contexts of long-term public needs and sustainable economic development. The Illinois State Archaeological Survey, a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois, conducts multiple-scale field and laboratory research projects that concentrate on interpreting the archaeological heritage of Illinois.
