NAMI Champaign The official page for the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Champaign County (IL)

NAMI Champaign is a non-profit organization purposed to:
1) Improve the quality of life for our relatives who suffer from brain disorders (mental illness).

2) Provide a forum where parents, spouses, siblings, adult offspring and friends of individuals with brain disorders (mental illness) may share experiences and give emotional support to one another.

3) Protect the rights and promote the welf

are, comfort and well-being of individuals with brain disorders (mental illness), particularly those who are too ill to speak for themselves.

4) To encourage and assist in the development of improved treatment, housing, care, and employment for individuals with brain disorders (mental illness).

5) Foster the advancement of research leading to more effective treatment of brain disorders (mental illness).

6) Work for an enlightened and more sympathetic public understanding of mental illness with the hope of diminishing the stigma and discrimination associated with the biological brain disorders.

7) Undertake any activity that future experience may indicate is of benefit to individuals with brain disorders (mental illness) and their families including the encouragement of membership in the organization by local groups or at large members.

Upcoming Family Support Groups for Champaign County and surrounding area. We welcome Adults (ages 18+) family and friends of loved ones with mental health conditions to join us in-person.

Our Champaign-Urbana Family Support Group meets in-person:

Every second Thurs from 6:30-8:00pm,
At OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Auditorium A, 1400 W Park St, Urbana

By sharing your experiences in a safe setting, you can:

- Gain hope and develop supportive relationships
- Allow your voice to be heard and provides an opportunity for help with your personal situation
- Become more empathic, be a part of a productive discussion and a sense of community
- Benefit from other’s experiences, discover your inner strength
Empower yourself by sharing your own experiences in a non-judgmental space
You are welcome to sign up for more than one meeting at a time.

EVENT CANCELLED: Due to snow and for the safety of those planning to attend, NAMI Champaign has decided to Cancel the Holiday Party event for this afternoon (12/14/2025).

RSVP and Join NAMI Champaign at our Annual Holiday party this December.

Sunday, December 14th from 2-4pm Stone Creek Church, 2502 S Race St (corner of Race & Windsor Ave), Urbana

During our Party we'll do some games/crafts, some snacking, some singing, more snacking, and everyone will get a chance to fill some Holiday Care bags--another annual tradition! This year we plan to fill 100 Holiday Care Bags that will be delivered to four separate mental health units of hospitals/facilities-- in C-U, Mattoon, & the VA hospital in Danville--for those individuals who are in crisis and will not be home for the Holidays.

Donations are welcome, please view our list of item to be included in the Holiday Care Bags!

This is a cost-free event, and we welcome our community, agency partners, and loved ones to join us for this fun afternoon.
