ATDHCI Members and Colleagues:

As a board, our intention was to revive the chapter in 2020. Unfortunately after years of instability, lack of volunteers and low program registrations, active chapter members and board members voted to dissolve the Heart of Central Illinois chapter. The board will be working together to complete necessary steps to close down the chapter effective immediately. In parallel, volunteers will be working with our neighboring Chicagoland chapter to create the Heart of Central Illinois a Geographic Interest Group (GIG). We will schedule a meeting in the coming weeks to discuss details. Although the chapter hasn’t been thriving, we all agree our community has a need for ATD resources. If you aren’t already familiar with our neighboring chapter, please check out the Chicagoland ATD website. Our Heart of Central Illinois ATD website will no longer be accessible in the coming weeks, so please review the Chicagoland Chapter site for offerings. More details will follow on the Heart of Central Illinois GIG as the program is developed.

One tip to add, whichever system you use (Adobe, WebEx, etc...), use some form of warm up activity before the session begins that introduces participants to the functionality of the platform. Doing so allows participants to adapt to the medium before the content is delivered, and have a little extra fun making your session more dynamic!

Polish your skills and implement these techniques to create a memorable virtual classroom experience.

ATD-HCI truly appreciates the IFSI Illinois Fire Service Institute for hosting us this past weekend. It was truly a remarkable visit exhibiting how IFSI leverages blended and experiential learning to make sure those first responders that will hopefully never need to visit your home, are as prepared to do their jobs as possible!

Keep your eye on www.tdhci.org for a recap of the visit later this week!
