On Thursday, May 28th, Champaign Police were proud to be honored as nominees for the Freedom Award from the organization Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. It was even more incredible to learn that the nomination came from one of the handful of CPD employees who spent part of 2025 on a military deployment.

Our agency employs members of the Army Reserve and the National Guard, along with many more retired military. When one of our teammates is on active duty, we do our best to look after them and ensure they get a taste of home through care packages. We're proud of their service, both at home in our uniform and away in another.
