In honor of National Police Week, we proudly celebrate the swearing-in of Officer Derek Fletcher. Long-term success in law enforcement relies heavily on a network of loved ones who provide purpose and unwavering support through a demanding career. It is clear that Officer Fletcher possesses this vital foundation, as evidenced by the family and friends who gathered for tonight’s special board meeting. We extend our warmest congratulations on the beginning of a distinguished and promising career.

Happy National Telecommunicator Week!

This week, we celebrate the incredible voices behind the scenes—the calm in the chaos, the steady guidance in moments of uncertainty, and the lifeline for those in need. Your dedication, compassion, and professionalism do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do every single day!

Our full-time Telecommunicators had the amazing opportunity to attend the 2026 Women in Criminal Justice Conference this past week. It was inspiring to connect, learn, and grow alongside so many strong, driven women making an impact in our field.

Grateful for the experience, the connections, and especially proud to celebrate all of our telecommunicators this week and always!

Parkland College’s Inaugural College Cup Plunge exceeded its fundraising goal of $1,000, raising an incredible $1,300. One hundred percent of these funds will go directly to supporting Special Olympics athletes, helping provide year-round sports opportunities, health screenings, travel accommodations for competitions, and leadership programming. This achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of Parkland faculty and staff, who showed up in a big way.

While the financial impact is significant, the awareness and meaningful conversations sparked by this event are equally powerful. Our small but mighty group of plungers demonstrated incredible courage and enthusiasm, creating an energy that was truly contagious. We were even joined by several spontaneous participants—including firefighters from Edge-Scott Fire—who were inspired to take part after witnessing the excitement.

This experience makes me incredibly excited about the future of the College Cup Plunge at Parkland College and the continued growth of this event in the years to come.
