The Tumaini Foundation

The Tumaini Foundation Taking inspiration from the Swahili word for hope, the Tumaini Foundation is bringing hope – through education and healing – for those in need in Africa.

A lack of education and lack of access to decent health care are leading causes of poverty in the developing world. Hardly a day goes by when we do not hear stories of disease, poverty, danger, famine, and other struggles facing nearly every African country. The Tumaini Foundation is bringing decent healthcare to families in the Ivory Coast and educational opportunities to children in Tanzania.

The Tumaini Foundation was founded in 2004 to bring humanitarian relief and provide for sustainable development by providing local African communities with needed medical supplies and educational support. Based on needs and local partnerships developed, the Tumaini Foundation is currently pursuing two projects in Africa: Expanding opportunities to serve the villages surrounding N’Gatta-Doloukro in the Ivory Coast and expanding a primary school facility in the rural village of Kimisa in northwest Tanzania. The Tumaini name comes from the Swahili word for hope. Through our work and your support, the Tumaini Foundation is bringing hope – through education and healing – for those in need in Africa.
