Earlier this year, Councilmember Poston sat down with then-Miss Chandler Victoria Vredevoogd to learn more about the work behind the crown, especially her efforts as founder of the Gender Violence Project at Arizona State University.

Since their conversation, Victoria has been named Miss Arizona and, most recently, selected as one of 10 finalists for the Miss America Quality of Life Awards, which recognize delegates whose extraordinary service is making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Please join us in wishing Victoria the very best of luck the competition this Sunday. We’re proud to have her representing Arizona and Chandler!

Chandler City Council just got one degree cooler. 🎓 We are exceptionally proud to share that Councilmember Ellis has earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) after completing the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program through Walden University.

Balancing a career in nursing, service on Council and a full life in our community is no small feat, and through it all, she made time for the studying, coursework and commitment needed to earn an advanced degree.

This moment was made even more special when her daughter, who graduated from medical school earlier this year, helped place her master’s hood — a meaningful full-circle moment for two generations dedicated to caring for others.

Please join us in celebrating Councilmember Ellis! 🎉

Councilmember Harris recently participated in Martha’s Vineyard Economic Policy Week, connecting with leaders and policymakers from the federal to local level, along with representatives from both corporate and advocacy sectors.

Discussions throughout the week explored emerging technology, healthcare policy, civic engagement, economic development and the data shaping future policy decisions.

The week offered an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore how public policy can continue to evolve alongside innovation and economic opportunity.

We were back in the studio today with Councilmember Ellis! This afternoon she sat down with Adrianna Erickson from City of Chandler Impact, Dawn Trapp, the CEO of Civitan, and a very special guest, her foster son, Adrien.

Adrien has always loved broadcasting, so once we wrapped up on set our video team set him up behind the camera. 🎥 Stay tuned for her next episode of Breaking Barriers!

During the League of AZ Cities and Towns, Councilmember Ellis joined a panel of inspiring women leaders for a thoughtful and deeply personal conversation about their paths to leadership and public service.

They spoke candidly about the challenges they’ve faced, what helped them move through those moments and how those experiences have shaped not only who they are, but how they serve.

Their stories offered an honest look at what it can mean to find your place, your voice and your confidence as a woman in an elected office.

Chandler has a long tradition of incredible student-athletes, and their stories deserve to be told and celebrated.

In July, Councilmember Hawkins and Mayor Kevin Hartke were excited to bring forward a budget amendment establishing a partnership between the City of Chandler, Arizona and C-Town Rivals, an organization dedicated to covering and promoting Chandler-area athletes and prep sports.

Through local sports coverage, interviews and storytelling, C-Town Rivals has spent years shining a spotlight on athletes from schools across our community. This partnership will help build on that work and celebrate the talent, hard work and accomplishments of Chandler athletes.

Please join us in celebrating our first Game Changer of the Week!

Congratulations to Austin Schuder! He is the first City of Chandler Game Changer of the Week.

The City of Chandler is planning for needed utility rate adjustments to cover higher operating and capital costs in these utilities. The following adjustments are proposed: water (9%), wastewater (6.5%), reclaimed water (9%) and solid waste (4.5%).

This would be an increase of about $5.73 a month for a resident using 10,000 gallons of water.

The rate increases will be discussed at the Chandler City Council meeting on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.

Visit chandleraz.gov/ProposedUtilityRates for details of these rates changes, including a calculator to estimate specific cost increases based on actual usage. Chandler customers can also submit feedback on this webpage.
