☺️ Amazing morning witnessing one of our School Participatory Budgeting, Vote Days!
This student led and administered vote day arrives as a result of an entire process that demonstrates student leadership, development of meaningful civic skills, and engages students deeply as primary stakeholders in shaping their personal school community.

🗳️ Today students got to see their hard work come to fruition with open voting.

ℹ️ School participatory budgeting is democratic process in which STUDENTS DECIDE how to spend part of their school’s budget. From initial surveying, registering to vote, coordinating Vote Day, showing up to vote and making their personal voice heard, to reliably and carefully counting and double counting ballots, our students LEAD with intention.

👏🏽 I really enjoyed talking with a few of those who made today happen and learning about our very own County Junior Deputy Registrars who are trained to host their own voter registration drives and educational events for their peers. Always good to see Captain Activate of Clean Elections and their creative team as well.

💐 Thank you to our supporting and advising teachers who go the extra mile to foster these experiences, skills and interests.

Grateful to round the first semester of our 2025-26 AY here in in the presence of such talent, dedication, camaraderie and sheer joy felt amongst some of our Hamilton High Choir Students who performed for our District Office this morning after our Board Planning Meeting. We heard a delightful and creative montage of vintage nouveau across languages 🎶

💙🤍❤️Happy Juneteenth, Jubilee Day! Today, we uplift and celebrate one of our Country's oldest holidays marking when the Union Army made its way into Galveston, TX and delivered enforcement of the proclamation order (issued 2 years prior) and the news of liberation to the last enslaved peoples in the union. Today we honor those who fought for freedom then and those who carry that torch today.

May we learn of and reflect on our history, the present and walk together in our journey towards true freedom.

🫶🏽Las madres representan el amor de un buen pastor.
🫶🏽Mothers represent the love of a good pastor.

💓Grateful to have held space with my Mommy and family yesterday. And especially grateful for the example my Mother has always given in building a special care, love and empowerment around youth.
I had the fortune of sitting in meditation and was overcome with the love, pride and deep gratitude for our youth who I am blessed to be in communion with and who let me share my lived experience with (as I certainly also learn from them). Many will hear me say “I love my babies so much.” As I continue to grow in Motherhood and adulthood, I continue to better understand my own words and the beautiful, ever growing garden our village of Mothers cultivates globally - resilient and loving through the many seasons we carry.

🌎This Earth Day, may we honor and reflect on the roots of its origins when an estimated 20 million people participated in demonstrations in support for environmental protections. With deep support from the United Auto Workers Union, the U.S. turned out one of its largest single-day protests and celebrations in history. 🌱May we carry that care forward in action to preserve and grow the precious grounds on which we live for a better, healthy future for each of us, together.
