Book world phrases explained: open-door vs closed-door romance. Though The Housemaid is not a romance book, it is an example of a book with closed-door romantic scenes. This is when the act of intimacy is implied rather than explicitly explained, a fade to black moment. Whereas in an open -door romance it’s like you’re in the room with them, getting every detail of the action in real time. Which do you prefer? I’m an equal opportunity reader. 😜
