STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN MENARD...SANGAMON...
SOUTHEASTERN CASS AND EASTERN MORGAN COUNTIES THROUGH 145 PM CDT...

At 1258 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Chandlerville to near Alexander to
Woodson. Movement was east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Springfield, Jacksonville, Petersburg, Athens, Chatham, Alexander, Auburn, Sherman, New Berlin, Ashland, Waverly, Divernon, Pleasant
Plains, Loami, Franklin, Murrayville, Woodson, Tallula, Illinois State Fairgrounds, and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.

Those attending the Illinois State Fair are in the path of these storms and should prepare for IMMINENT DANGEROUS WEATHER CONDITIONS.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 55 between mile markers 79 and 106. Interstate 72 between mile markers 66 and 104.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Western Menard County in central Illinois... Fulton County in west central Illinois... Southwestern Tazewell County in central Illinois... Cass County in west central Illinois... Schuyler County in west central Illinois... Mason County in central Illinois... Northern Morgan County in west central Illinois...

* Until 445 AM CDT.

* At 343 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Lewistown to near Rushville, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near... Lewistown, St. David, and Browning around 350 AM CDT. Havana and Bath around 355 AM CDT.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Chandlerville, Manito, Kilbourne, Easton, Green Valley and Mason
City.

This includes Interstate 72 between mile markers 71 and 73.

This also includes Anderson Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, Jim Edgar Panther Creek Fish and Wildlife Area, Rice Lake State Fish and
Wildlife Area, Sand Ridge State Forest, Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, and Sanganois State Fish and Wildlife Area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values near 110.

* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Illinois.

* WHEN...From noon today to 9 PM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Heat index readings of 105 to 110 degrees or higher are expected today and Monday, though the potential for storms on Monday introduces some uncertainty in this outlook. Heat-related illnesses can come on quickly in such conditions, and any outdoor activities should be avoided or confined to early morning or the evening.

* Until 1015 PM CDT.

* At 909 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Littleton to 7 miles west of Beardstown, moving
southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Public. At 849 PM, a 70 mph wind gust was reported in Camden, with tree limbs down in that area.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Beardstown around 915 PM CDT.
Arenzville around 920 PM CDT.
Bluff Springs and Chapin around 925 PM CDT.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Jacksonville, Virginia, South Jacksonville, Literberry, Alexander and

As our small communities gather today to celebrate our great nation, please keep safety at the forefront. Each year, thousands of people — mostly children — are seriously injured or killed by recreational fireworks. Sparklers burn at 1,200 degrees, that is hotter than a blowtorch, and easily burn little hands and feet.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 911.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
