✏️🚌 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY REMINDERS 📚✏️
Wednesday August 19th officially begins the new school year for MCHS and Channahon District 17 schools! Now is a great time to review when you need to stop for a school bus. Use extra caution always when around buses and be on the look out for students and always SLOW DOWN!

Give yourself extra travel time during drop-off and pick-up times. There will be an increase in traffic and students walking to and from school. Let's make this a safe and enjoyable school year.

ATTENTION CHANNAHON. A severe thunderstorm is approaching with damaging winds. Please plan according and take action.

As of 9:40 AM, projected out 1-hour forward, orange shaded areas are expected to be the focus of corridors of destructive wind gusts up to 80+ mph.

Take all warnings seriously today! If you can move your car inside a garage or under a parking structure, consider doing so.

A few weeks ago, we had the honor of helping celebrate Brooks’ birthday with a special birthday parade! Officers stopped by with some patrol vehicles to help make his day extra memorable.

Seeing Brooks’ smile as he welcomed us in his own mini police cruiser was the highlight of our day! 💙

***UPDATE*** The leak has been patched. NICOR crews will remain on scene to complete repairs. There is no danger to the public and the roadway is OPEN (7/29/2026 @ 3:41PM).

The Channahon Fire Protection District, Channahon Police Department, and NICOR are aware of and actively responding to a gas leak near the intersection of W. Sioux Drive and S. Iroquois Drive.

Traffic is being diverted from the area to provide emergency crews and utility personnel with safe access to repair the leak. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes until the scene has been cleared.
