🚔 ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT NOTICE 🚔

The Channahon Police Department will undergo an on-site assessment as part of its pursuit of Tier 1 accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP), a program administered by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP).

As part of this process, an assessor will visit the department on May 13th to conduct a comprehensive review of departmental policies, procedures, operations, and compliance with established professional standards.

Accreditation through ILEAP requires agencies to meet comprehensive standards designed to promote best practices in key areas including use of force, training, evidence handling, and officer safety.

The on-site assessment is a critical component of the review process, ensuring the department not only maintains strong written policies but also demonstrates accountability and consistency in how those policies are applied in real-world situations.

As warmer weather arrives, we’ve received multiple reports of drivers not following school bus safety laws during student drop-offs and pick-ups. Those flashing lights are there for a reason, to protect children who may be crossing the street unexpectedly.

Please remember:
🛑 Red lights mean STOP in all directions unless on the opposite side of a divided highway with a physical median.
⚠️ Yellow lights mean slow down—the bus is preparing to stop.

A few extra seconds of caution can save a life. Let’s do better, Channahon, and work together to keep our kids safe every day.

Last week, School Resource Officer Vancura and Detective Sergeant Blough had some very special passengers! Two lucky students earned a one-of-a-kind ride to school in a police car as part of a fun experience and they definitely made their arrival in style 🚓😎

We love getting the chance to create positive, memorable experiences for our youngest community members! 💙📚

🚓 Happy Administrative Professionals Day! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating the real hero’s of our department—our Records Team: Liz Costa, Jodi Bette, and Michelle Brown!

They’re the masters of organization, and the behind-the-scenes heroes who keep everything running smoothly (and keep us all in line 😉).
