Equipment Management Company offers specialized training courses in vehicle stabilization, and extrication. EMC has three different types of classes ranging from a one day light extrication to a three day intensive class with Firehouse Magazine’s Ron Moore as the lead instructor. Please be aware that these are typical classes and we can customize any of them to suit your needs. One Day Light Extrication-EMC provides a one day refresher course in light extrication. Typically your department will provide the vehicles and area, while EMC provides the equipment and instructors. Class covers basic cribbing techniques, basic sop procedures, and correct usage of your rescue tools. Class is usually 8 to 12 firefighters. Two Day Extrication Course -This course is two full days. The first day is spent on basic cribbing and extrication techniques, followed by the second day where advanced cribbing and extrication techniques are taught. Vehicles will be in simulated accidents, with cars on their sides and upside down. In addition, rescue dummies will simulate patients, giving the students a realistic flavor to the course. EMC provides the tools and equipment while your department provides the cars and area. Class is usually 12 to 20 firefighters. Three Day Intensive University of Extrication-This course is taught completely by Fire House Magazine’s Ron Moore. Ron Moore writes the “University of Extrication” column for Fire House Magazine, and has over 30 years experience in this field of fire rescue. The first day starts off with Ron’s classroom instruction. Here the student will be shown a slide show presentation by Ron describing the different situations he or she could come across and the class discusses the best way to attack the situation. After lunch Ron begins with the basics of cribbing and glass removal, then moves on to more advanced techniques later in the day. The second day begins with basic usage of the tools for extrication. The student will come into contact with reciprocating saws, air hammers, and hydraulic rescue tools. After lunch, we move into basic scenarios involving cars in all different positions and angles. The third day begins with advanced techniques in extrication. Vehicles will be crushed with rescue dummies to simulate real accident scenes. Each team will be assigned a task and evaluated by Ron after they have accomplished this task. Finally after lunch, we have timed evolutions to throw a little competition into the mix, and have some fun. This class is usually a minimum of 40 students, and EMC provides the tools, cars, food, cribbing, and instructors. Your department provides safety officers, and area.
