Channahon Fire Protection District In 1960, the Channahon Fire Protection District was incorporated. Emergency service delivery is provided by two career staffed stations.

A few simple steps can save your life!
-Know at least two ways out of your dorm room and building.
-When the alarm sounds, get out immediately. Never assume it's a drill.
-Keep phones, laptops, and other devices off you bed and pillows while charging.
-Never leave cooking unattended, and keep anything that can burn away from the stove.
-Check your dorm's rules before using candles, incense, or other open flames.
-Use the correct charger and never use batteries that are damaged, swollen, or overheating.
-Don't block hallways, stairways, doors, or emergency exits with personal belongings.
-Know your residence hall's smoking and fire safety policies.

CPR Saves Lives ❤️‍🩹
This afternoon, the Channahon Fire Protection District had the honor of recognizing two remarkable community members and our very own, whose quick actions helped save a life.
During their weekly pickleball game, one player suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Without hesitation, a fellow player called for help, had someone retrieve the AED, and immediately began CPR. A nurse from another court quickly joined him.
By starting CPR right away, they helped keep oxygen-rich blood flowing to the brain and vital organs until our firefighters and paramedics arrived just 3–4 minutes later. The AED delivered two lifesaving shocks before our team took over.
The patient was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center and made a full recovery with no neurological damage.

CPR matters. AEDs matter. YOU can make a difference.

October 13th Channahon Fire Protection District will host a Free CPR/AED course for residents.
