For more than a decade, has hosted a Golf tournament to benefit HomeAid National Capital Region and the work we are doing in the community. The contributions from today’s event are especially meaningful in that they are unrestricted, giving HomeAid the flexibility to direct those dollars where they can have the greatest impact. That might mean fully funding a smaller project or helping bridge the gap between the generous in-kind contributions provided by our Trade Partners and the actual cost of a larger Construction Project.

In other words, the impact of what was raised today extends well beyond the golf course. It gives us the flexibility to say “yes” to projects that create safe, stable spaces for people who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Yesterday, we along with Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia had the pleasure of hosting Congressman Don Beyer at the Reeves Farmhouse. He took the time to learn more about HomeAid’s mission of building and renovating housing and programmatic facilities for nonprofits serving people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. He asked thoughtful questions, toured the home, and even signed the wooden studs, leaving words of encouragement and strength for the L'Arche Greater Washington, DC Core Members who will soon call the house home. It has been just over a month since we distributed nearly 1.3 million diapers and wipes to nonprofits throughout our region, and the thank-you emails, notes, and calls continue to come in.

Staff and Board members have shared their gratitude for helping fill such a critical need in our community. Many told us they began distributing the diapers the very same day they were delivered because their clients were in such urgent need.

We created a short video to celebrate the incredible impact you helped make possible. Please take a moment to watch it, share it, and help us spread the word about what we can accomplish when we come together as a community.

We are so grateful to Thompson Greenspon for participating in a Care Day yesterday at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington, which serves vulnerable women, men, and families in need of assistance, regardless of faith.

Volunteers spent the day helping fight food insecurity by sorting donations, checking expiration dates, assembling food boxes, stocking shelves, and sprucing up the pantry with a fresh coat of paint. Every task helped move Catholic Charities’ mission forward by ensuring families have access to the nutritious food they need.
