The Rotary Club of Centreville & Chantilly is collecting diapers as a way of recognizing April as Maternal and Child Health Month. Lack of diapers affects parents ability to leave their children at child care, and often it is the larger size diapers - 4, 5 &6 - that are most needed and not often donated. Please consider dropping diapers by the Sandy Spring bank in Fairlakes before Friday, April 16th. #DiaperDrive #BabyBasics #GivingBack #supportingfamilies

Polio Cases Surge in Pakistan and Afghanistan

Last year’s hotly contested national elections temporarily threw the program off track as local officials were replaced, said Aziz Memon, head of Rotary International’s polio campaign in Pakistan. Cases have typically spiked during elections and moments of political turmoil.

The virus is threatening to spread to other countries. In May, a sewage sample in a bordering province in Iran tested positive for the strain of virus circulating in Pakistan; Iran had its last case of polio paralysis in 2001. #EndPolioNow

False rumors that children are fainting or dying have led parents to turn away vaccinators, threatening the campaign to eradicate the disease.

What a great project! Well done!

A group of Farragut Rotarians volunteered tonight at Laundry Love. Laundry Love provides free laundry service for people in Knoxville who might not have the ability to pay to wash and clean their clothing and bedding on their own. They come to Bluewater Laundromat on North Broadway in Knoxville the third Thursday of each month to have a meal and get their laundry done by a group of volunteers. Tonight the Farragut Rotary Club sponsored the event by providing funds and Rotarian volunteers. Here are some photos of our hard working Rotary members.

We are very excited to be part of a team effort with #FairfaxChurchofChrist, #AirMastersHeatingandAirConditioning and Rotary Club of Centreville & Chantilly to bring RevelationAccapella.com to Fairfax County, Virginia in just two short weeks. #Revelation began its ministry in 2001 at the Southside Church of Christ in Orlando, FL under the direction of Dureya Hill. It was originally formed out of the congregations Single and Saved Ministry. Over the years the group has made transitions that have lead to the current group of 14 members who have been singing together under the direction of Sis. Kelly Neal. Revelation's purpose is to minister to people and edify through song. The mission statement for the group is in congruence with the mission of the Southside Church of Christ, which is to "bring the lost to Christ, teach them to be faithful, and equip them to be fruitful... To lift up and magnify the name of Jesus Christ by being spirit-filled, morally good, academically prepared, socially involved, and doctrinally sound." You can hear them at the WFCM #12thAnnualFellowshipDinner on October 4 at the International Country Club in Fairfax. What?! You haven't purchased your tickets yet? RSVP is tomorrow, Monday, September 23 - wfcmva.org/dinner $100 per ticket/$1,000 per table; 1/2 is tax deductible and supports WFCM's ministry to provide food and financial support to those at risk of hunger and homelessness in western Fairfax County. We hope to see you there - 1 last very important sponsorship available as well - contact Mary Ellen D'Andrea, WFCM's Director of Development at [email protected] THANK YOU! #dinner #fundraiser #revelation #socialimpact #missiondriven #faithfilled #friendraiser #communitysupport #annualevent #accapella
