WEDNESDAY 7:08 a.m. update: We are able to use substitutes to cover almost all of the routes on time. The only one of the routes published last evening that will be significantly impacted is the McDougle Middle school run on bus 95. That run had to be split between two existing bus runs (37 and 22).
On another note, in covering these routes, bus 258 serving Phillips Middle and East Chapel Hill will operate approximately 15-20 minutes behind schedule. Messages were already sent on the ‘Here Comes The Bus’ app to all affected routes/runs.
---Original Tuesday night post below---
Possible transportation delays Wednesday morning.
This message is for families of students who ride morning buses to school on the following three routes (this message was also emailed to affected school communities earlier tonight):
• Route 12 (Carrboro Elementary, Culbreth Middle, Chapel Hill High)
• Route 28 (Scroggs Elementary, Smith Middle, East Chapel Hill High)
• Route 95 (Northside Elementary, McDougle Middle, Chapel Hill High)
We are writing to let you know that your student’s bus (the routes mentioned above) may be delayed on Wednesday morning as we address staffing issues affecting our Transportation team. It is still possible that we will secure substitute drivers or make other arrangements that allow all buses to run on time tomorrow, but we wanted to share this update now so that you may think about other transportation arrangements if you so choose. A bus will still be assigned to your child’s bus stop in the morning, however there may be delays due to staffing issues (certain buses may need to do “double runs” to ensure all routes are covered.)
If you would like to track the status of your student’s bus, you can always download the “Here Comes the Bus App” (you will need your student’s school ID number and the District Code of 86446.) You may also receive a message from our Transportation office in the event of a significant delay.
We apologize in advance for this inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to keeping you informed.
