Meet the Mustangs: Mr Briones, Multilingual Learner Teacher! 🎉ML Teachers work closely with students, families, and staff to help ensure every student feels supported, included, and successful at school! 🌎

🌿Mr Briones is in his fourth year of teaching ML students, most recently working at Phoenix Academy High School and Smith Middle School. He is originally from Houston, Texas but has lived in Carrboro for the past 9 years. Outside of school, Mr Briones likes to hike, garden and write! 📝

Meet the Mustangs: Mr Casey, CTE Business Teacher. 🎉

💻📈Kaeden King-Casey, our new CTE Business teacher, is fresh out of Hampton University with a B.S. in Marketing. Mr Casey is just starting his career in teaching and is incredibly enthusiastic about it. He's prepared to contribute his own viewpoint, enthusiasm, and a little bit of business acumen to the classroom.

📖Mr Casey is excited to create an environment where learning seems relevant and authentic rather than just something you sit through. He enjoys athletics, fashion, and anime outside of school, and he always wants to make others laugh. He brings the same sincere, positive enthusiasm to everything he does, and he is eager to see where this next chapter leads him!

Meet the Mustangs: Digital Learning Coach, Ms. Grimm 🎉 “Hello! I've been teaching 7th-grade science since 2001, starting my career in Moore County before returning home to the Chapel Hill area—where I grew up—to join Phillips MS in 2008.

🐠 My educational background includes a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Science from NC State, licensure from Fayetteville State, and a Master’s in Learning, Technology, and Instruction from UNC-Charlotte.

⚙️ 🧬 Technology and science education is my passion, but when I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me hiking, reading, gaming (both board and video games!), or catching college sports. Most of all, I love spending my free time surrounded by family, including my husband, adult kids, grandkids, parents, and siblings.”

Meet the Mustangs: Mr Rojas Escobar, Spanish Teacher 🎉 Please help us welcome Mr Rojas Escobar to our Spanish Department! ❤️🖤

Pablo Rojas Escobar (Chile, 1981) is an educator holding a degree in Literature and a master’s degree in Discourse Analysis. He has taught courses on oral expression, reading, and academic writing at various universities in the La Araucania region, Chile. 🇨🇱

✏️ He currently teaches Spanish at Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools and is excited to join the Mustang Staff this year! Welcome!

Meet the Mustangs: Ms Neff, Chorus & Orchestra Director! 🎉🎶🎼🎻We are excited to welcome, Ms Neff, our new chorus and orchestra director to MMS! "My name is Genavieve Neff, and I am so excited to be the chorus and orchestra director at McDougle Middle School! I am a recent graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Music Education, and I completed my student teaching at Green Level High School in the spring.

🗻While at Appalachian State, I played in many different ensembles, such as wind ensemble, symphony band, saxophone quartet, and the Marching Mountaineers, where I served as drum major. 🥁

❤️🖤Outside of music, I love to rock climb and enjoy the outdoors with my family. I am honored to begin my career at McDougle, and I cannot wait to make music with all of my students!"

I moved to North Carolina from Rhode Island last year and have enjoyed getting to know the area. Outside of school, I play rugby 🏉 and love staying active.
