Probationary Firefighter Graley joined Hambden Fire in January 2026. He also serves with Middlefield Fire Department and recently completed Paramedic class at UH Geauga. PJ is working towards a career in the fire service and possibly law enforcement as well. PJ lives in Painesville.

🚒 Construction Update 🚧

We're only about two weeks into construction of the new Hambden Fire Station, and it's amazing to see how much progress has already been made.

Crews have been hard at work moving dirt, shaping the site, and getting everything ready for the next stages of construction.

Congratulations to Hambden's newest Paramedic, Lieutenant Adam Varner! Lieutenant Varner spent the last 9 months attending classes and completing countless clinical hours in both hospital and EMS settings as part of this course through UH Geauga Medical Center. He successfully passed the National Registry Exam, certifying him as a Paramedic! Great job, Lieutenant Varner; we are proud of you!

Probationary Firefighter Lawrence joined Hambden Fire in March, 2026. He brings over seven years of experience in Fire and EMS in both the career and volunteer settings. Zach currently works full-time for the Chardon Fire Department and is also a member of the Geauga County Fire Investigation Unit. Zach lives in Chardon.

We are excited to have Zach on our team!

Due to low enrollment, the Hambden Fire Department Citizen’s Fire Academy will unfortunately not be held this summer.

We appreciate everyone who showed interest in the program and support for our department. While we are disappointed we could not move forward this year, we are already looking ahead to next year’s academy — which is intended to be the first held in our brand-new fire station.

We hope to see many of you there next year. Thank you again for your continued support of the Hambden Fire Department!

This evening, the Hambden Fire Explorers trained on drafting water utilizing both a dry hydrant and a floating strainer. Our Explorer Program is for high school students that can begin learning about the fire service and better prepare them for a career as a firefighter after high school. This edition of “Throwback Thursday” takes us back to 1990 when Hambden hosted a mass casualty training at the former Chardon Auto Wrecking on Old State Rd in Hambden.

The Geauga County Drone Team is led by Hambden Fire's Lt. Jonathan Porter, and operates under Geauga County EMA.

The Drone Team supports fire department, law enforcement, local government, and special teams operations throughout Geauga County.
