Meredith and Amy were invited as VIP guests to the Cleveland Foundation's annual meeting at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse last week. Lilian Kuri, president and CEO, shared all of the remarkable initiatives the foundation helps to fund in Northeast Ohio. Several months ago, Lilian met with Meredith and Amy, and her vision and leadership are so inspiring! Thanks for having us!

Join Judge Carolyn Paschke's New Leaf Program for its Drug Court Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, July 25, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on the Chardon Square! The event is open to the public and many organizations will have tables set up (including us!). So stop by, check out the info tables, and celebrate the graduates!

Rotary Club of Burton Middlefield's annual event - the Maple Splash Festival - is tomorrow, July 13, from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m.! A day full of raffles, live music, food trucks, hot air balloon rides, -- including booths from area organizations like Leadership Geauga! Congratulations to Patty Willson, a Signature Adult Program alumna of the Class of 2018, for receiving the 2024 Frank Giampetro Distinguished EMS Educator Award! This award was established to recognize a dynamic educator who has made notable contributions to the Emergency Medical Services system, thus improving the quality of care delivered to the citizens of Ohio. During our Youth Institute mentorship experience, students indicate a field of interest on their application, and our staff and committee pairs the student with a local business in that field. Rachel Suszynski noted that she is interested in astronomy, so we paired her with Chris Mentrek, Geauga Park District's Astro-Nat(uralist). Chris gave Rachel a tour of Observatory Park and its many telescopes, let Rachel control a show at the planetarium, and showed her the Nassau Astronomical Station!

Meredith and Amy supported Danielle Martincic, LG '23, as she coordinated the Kinetico golf outing to benefit the American Heart Association! Although it rained later in the day, it still raised a lot of money for a wonderful organization! Great job, Danielle!

At the 2024 Youth Institute graduation ceremony, Meredith reviewed all we accomplished in the past two weeks with this class. Each student was asked to answer a question about their experience, whether it be about a business we visited, their mentorship, or other key parts of the program. Then, Meredith and our Youth Committee Chairperson and Board Member Denise Toth presented each student with a certificate of completion.

Best wishes to these students in their future endeavors!

Let's hear it for the Youth Institute Class of 2024! This group of 25 students from eight different school districts were so polite, engaging, and fun to take around the county. In just six program days, we visited 20 organizations, met 55 leaders, and traveled 81 miles!

Thank you to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center for sponsoring our Youth Institute again this year! Many of the students completed their mentorship at the hospital in various departments, which helped them define their career interests further.

Today was Government Day and Graduation for the 2024 Youth Institute! Thank you to Judge Stupica for having us visit her court room. Also, thanks to our government officials panelists- Chuck Walder for Auditor, Commissioner Jim Dvorak, Judge Mary Jane Trapp, and Bainbridge Fiscal Officer Janice Saba Sugarman for sharing their positions and leadership advice.

We are excited to begin accepting applications for our Fall 2024 Heritage Program for Retirees class! The Heritage Program offers an opportunity for individuals who are retired or approaching retirement to define their next chapter. The Fall program will begin on October 9, 2024. Participants will meet once weekly, on Wednesdays, for six weeks, concluding with graduation on November 13, 2024. Class days run from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
