Munson Fire Department The Munson Fire Department is dedicated to the safety and protection of our community. This station is manned on a 24/7/365 basis.

MFD is a combination fire department staffed with 24 full and part time firefighters and officers. The department has one fire station strategically located in the center of our 25 square mile community. Living areas, sleeping quarters and office space is provided at the station. Operating on a minimum staff of 4 FF's and maximum of 5. Housed are 2 Engines, 1 Pumper Tanker, 3 ALS Squads, Heavy Res

cue-Air Truck, Achilles R.I.B, a Command Unit and 2 Chiefs units. The fire station is also an emergency shelter in the event of a disaster or large scale event. The Geauga County Safety Center is the centralized dispatch center for the entire county. It also has the capability of handling multi-jurisdictional emergencies across seven counties in Northeast Ohio. The Safety Center has a jail that has the capabilities of housing 182 inmates and intakes prisoners from surrounding counties due to overcrowding on a regular basis. They have also recently become accredited to house federal inmates for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the US Marshalls. Running directly through the center of Munson Township is US 322. This major artery handles 10,720 vehicles daily. Also running along our eastern border is SR 44. This road also handles 7,300 vehicles per day. Our firefighting personnel have the training and abilities to respond to all hazards and emergencies within our township and the surrounding communities with whom we have mutual aid agreements. MFD has three contractual interoperability agreements with our surrounding communities and formal interoperability agreements with thirty seven other communities in Geauga, Lake, Cuyahoga and Portage Counties.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure to have Solid Rock at the fire station for a tour. Participants got to see the trucks, have a fire safety talk, see a fireman up close in their gear and put out a fire on our sq**rt house. A great time was had by all. Today, Munson Fire Department hosted a grain bin rescue training put on by the Ohio Fire Academy. While, Munson Township does not have farm silos, it and neighboring townships have commercial establishments, where this training can be useful. Thanks to the Ohio Fire Academy, Geauga County Farm Bureau for providing lunch from Sirna’s, and Timmons Farm out of Burton for donating the corn.

2026 Junior Fire Academy-Thursday July 30th

Munson Fire Department is excited to once again offer our annual Junior Fire Academy on Thursday, July 30th from 8AM-4:30PM

This FREE event is open to participants ages 14 to 18.

This one-day program will give all Participants a fun introduction to the daily duties of Fire and EMS personnel along with the physical fitness and agility skills required for these jobs.

In addition, Participants will have the opportunity to be exposed to basic firefighting techniques, forcible entry skills, hands on CPR, basic first aid, fire extinguisher training, hose evolutions, water stream application, emergency vehicle demonstrations, and vehicle extrication.

Please Register By Wednesday, July 15th!

All Participants will receive Lunch, a T-Shirt, and a Certificate of Completion.
