These guys!
Your Munson Township Road Department. Road department is not really an accurate title for these men. Jack of all trades is much more accurate. Park maintenance, building maintenance, of course road maintenance including repairs, berm mowing, culvert repairs and plowing. They are responsible for so much more than most see in the community. Always ready to give a helping hand to us whether it’s “placing” a car for training on its roof or bringing equipment to our incidents to help out in the incident. Thanks guys for always being there to help out. Proud to have you as part of our team!

This week Munson firefighters are refining their skills on vehicle stabilization and vehicle extrication. Crews worked as a team to practice different techniques to make us safe and efficient. Thank you to Walter’s Towing and Interstate Towing and Transport for the donation of cars! We could not do trainings like this without you guys!

Well, school is back in session! Here are some helpful tips to get everyone in the back to school groove:

School zones are 20mph. Our friends at the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments are always watching!

Please utilize crosswalks if crossing the street. Pedestrians have the right of way but LOOK BOTH WAYS!

Put your phones down! It takes a second of being distracted to have an accident.

If you are riding a bike, scooter, e bike, skateboard or pretty much anything with wheels you should have a helmet on!

Our thoughts are with the Thompson Fire Department and the Jewell family in this difficult time.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our own, Brooke Jewell. She died this morning as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident.

Although Brooke was with the department for a short time, she made a meaningful and lasting impact on those who had the privilege to serve alongside her. She will be deeply missed.

Munson Fire Department would like to thank all of our residents and friends that came out to enjoy the annual Munson Township Community Picnic! Always a very fun time and great to see everyone! A special thank you to our Township Trustees, Administrative Office staff, Road Department, Township Parks members, Geauga County Sheriff’s Office K-9, local businesses, Brown Barn Tavern, and sooo many more… as well as the fire department members that helped to make this day such a special event. We can’t wait to see you all again next summer.

On Thursday, Munson Fire Department hosted a Junior Fire Academy. Students attending learned about stop the bleed and CPR in the classroom. Students then were outside learning about pumping and drafting, fire hose hand lines and how to advance them, forcible entry on our training door and vehicle extrication on a car donated from Interstate Towing. Students also had the opportunity to tour the dispatch center at the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE: MARGARET “MAGGIE” KEEGAN HAS BEEN LOCATED SAFELY

We are happy to report that 11-year-old Margaret “Maggie” Keegan has been located safe after spending the night lost in the woods.

The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the dedicated first responders, search teams, partner agencies, volunteers, and community members who assisted in the search efforts and shared information.
