Playgrounds in our city parks are allowed to re-open today Monday, June 1st in accordance to the proclamation set forth by Governor Reynolds last Tuesday.

We ask that you continue to follow recommended safety guidelines when you're at city parks. Proper social distancing and sanitation efforts are still critical for activities at any facility so please keep this in mind when using the parks.

Thank you!

As per Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds proclamation dated on May 26, 2020, all outdoor playgrounds can reopen in Iowa on June 1st.

The City of Chariton is opening playgrounds as of this morning. All playgrounds will be open at our parks, except Halferty Park's playground is still under construction.

It is the person using the playground to be responsible to ensure using the playground safely with your own hand sanitizer and wipes. City restrooms will begin to open up this week at our parks.

Please see the following statement from the Lucas County Little League Association:

Tonight, the Lucas County Little League Board had a meeting to discuss the 2020 baseball season.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce we will not be playing baseball this season. This was the hardest decision we have made as a board and something we did not take lightly. This is definitely not how I envisioned this season ending.

We did seek advice from Public Health and ADLM Emergency Management and they both advised against playing this season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The biggest deciding factor in not playing this season is the attached recommended guidelines from Little League International and also CDC guidelines. The amount of extra work that would have to go into every game every night would be overwhelming for both the adults and the kids trying to have fun playing the game.

To help you all understand our decision I have attached recommended guidelines from Little League. You can also see all of the recommendations at www.littleleague.org.

We will be holding a refund day in the near future and I will notify everyone of when that is. There will be two options for refund.

Option 1:
You can donate your registration fees back to the league.
By doing so this will help cover field maintenance, costs of new batting cage nets already purchased this year, Hats already purchased, catchers gear already purchased, baseballs already purchased etc.
If you do choose to donate your registration fee back to the little league you can pick up a hat and a brand-new game ball that would have been used this season on refund day.

Option 2:
You will receive a refund less $25.00 to help cover he cost of maintaining the fields for the rest of the year.

I hope you all understand this was not an easy decision.

Sincerely,

Justin Peterson
LCLL President
