Hope Learning Center is fully licensed to meet the physical and developmental needs of up to 135 children. Our expert childcare staff, fully trained and educated in Early Childhood Development and Education, foster a nurturing environment of acceptance and welcome for all children. We're here for you, every day of the week, offering full-time and part-time care in a safe and nurturing environment as an extension of the family unit, serving as a supplement to - not a replacement for - the family. We recognize that young children develop optimally through close, affectionate relationships with older people, particularly adults. Each child has a unique rate of development and level of ability, which is expected, valued, and accepted at HLC. We are proud to stimulate the balanced growth of each child physical, emotionally, and intellectually as well; and we believe that young children learn best by interacting with their environment through meaningful play and hands-on experiences based on each child's needs, abilities, and interests.

Iowa Is Facing A Childcare Crisis And COVID-19 Has Made It Worse

Hope Learning Center was featured on Iowa Public Radio. If you have some free time, take some time to listen. The story not only addresses how childcare centers have faced COVID-19 but also the childcare crisis that is currently going on in our state.

Childcare in Iowa appears to be reaching a crisis. Nearly a quarter of the state’s residents are estimated to live in a childcare desert while the annual

Mrs. Andie, our Dragonfly teacher, celebrated 2 years of working with Hope Learning Center. She has shown great commitment to our center. If you were to walk into her classroom you would find her always interacting with the children whether it be, playing beauty salon, making new crafts, or building with blocks. We thank you Andie for continuing to be a great teacher here at HLC!

Governor Kim Reynolds

Director of Iowa Department of Human Services, Kelly Garcia, has answered a lot of great questions. Hope Learning Center has been following all of these guidelines.

We love being able to support our families that need us during this time. Please watch and hear what she has to say.

Thank you!

VIDEO: I sit down with Iowa Department of Human Services Director Kelly Garcia to talk about child care.

03/22/2020

Hope Learning Center will be enforcing these guidelines from Iowa Department of Human Services starting Monday, March 23rd.

HEALTH

1.There will be mandatory temperature screenings upon drop-off every day. A teacher will be sitting at a table right inside the door in the mornings waiting for the students to arrive. We ask that you open the door, let the child come in, BUT please wait in the entrance. The teacher will open the door after the temperature is taken, and let you know the results. Remember to keep a distance of 6 feet apart. We will send home children with temperatures of 100.4 degrees or higher. We will not allow children with fever into childcare settings. Children will need to be out of the center for 72 hours fever free.

2. If we suspect a child or individual is ill, or their parent is ill, we will send home and recommend you call your primary healthcare provider. Healthcare practitioners are equipped to screen individuals and to refer for additional testing, if needed.

3. Sick children will be separated until they are able to go home. With this being said, the child will need to be picked up ASAP. Staff who are ill will go home immediately.

4.We will talk with staff and parents about travel plans to affected areas so you are able to assess any potential risk. Also, visit the CDC’s Information for Travel page for the most up-to-date alerts.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

1.All parent(s)/guardians have to drop-off children at the front door, limiting adult entry to the facility.

2. We will distance children while eating.

4. We will do our best to avoid mixing children across classes. Older kids will be in a room, while infants/toddlers are in a separate room.

Thank you!

A HUGE thank you to the staff at Hope Learning Center. If you see any child care workers out and about, give them a big thank you. They are committed to your children and providing them with the best possible care during this time.

We express our sincere gratitude to all child care teachers who have contributed to a child’s growth and curiosity for learning. Your dedication to HOPE students is outstanding. We value your work more than you know!

Another thank you to one of our board members, Brad Krutsinger and his family, for the delicious donuts this morning!

03/16/2020

Effective 3/17/2020

Due to the recommendation by Iowa Department of Human Services, they have insisted on parents dropping off and picking up at the door. There will be a list of steps posted outside of the door. They have also asked us to reschedule any big events, like Muffins with Mom. We will try to find another time for the event.

We will be taking extra precautions if a child is sick. Once a child has a temperature over 101, they must be picked up immediately to reduce exposure.

We would like to ask if you travel outside of the state, to visit the CDC’s Information for Travel page once you return. If you were at an affected area/region. Please let us know.

If you have any questions please give us a call!

Happy Thursday friends!!

Hope Learning Learning is not on lockdown. Parents can proceed to pick up children as normal. We of course do not have any preschool or school age children yet. We will send out a message as soon as they get to our facility.

Hi Families!

We are doing something for our fall fundraiser and could use your help! If you could dress your children in their favorite sports team TOMORROW (11/7/2019), that would be amazing. Doesn't have to be anything special, a t-shirt would be just fine!

Thank you very much!

Next month is our annual fall fundraiser! We are keeping the tailgate tradition going and even adding a new team to the mix this year. "Tailgate with a Purpose" is our theme, celebrating four teams: UNI, ISU, IOWA and the Detroit Lions. What's so awesome about this? You tell us what team you want and we will decorate your table! You can reserve a table for $100 with 2 free tickets or $150 with 8 free tickets. It's always nice to know you have a spot saved for you for the night!.

Attached below is our flyer with more details about the event. We will have a dinner and live and silent auction. Check out the flyer to see where you can purchase tickets early for a discounted price!

Also, if you are wanting to donate an item for the auction, please let us know! Every little bit helps. Hope Learning Center appreciates all your support!
