It is the first rails to trails trail in the state of Iowa and is 13 miles long. Please call ahead for staff availability and open hours for Pin Oak Lodge.

It was a beautiful evening on the prairie Saturday evening for the Night Time Insect Safari program at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge where we black lighted for nocturnal insects. We didn't get to see many moths, but there was no shortage of things to look at! Check out in the pictures what a crab spider looks like under UV light. If you were there, share some pictures in the comments!

Pin Oak Lodge will be open tomorrow, Aug 1st, for the first Saturday of the month from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Then Saturday evening will be the Night Time Insect Safari Program at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge from 8:00pm to 9:30pm.
