The Charleroi Fire Department would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family of Linda Farquhar on her passing. Linda was the mother-in-law of Assistant Chief Doug Prentice and the grandmother of Captain Matt Prentice. May she rest in peace.

This evening, firefighters underwent training exercises that included a review of search and rescue procedures as well as instruction on the deployment of newly issued escape rope bags in emergency situations.

We extend our gratitude to the owners of Double Ms Pizza for donating drinking water to our firefighters.

We are honored to be recognized as a Gold Helmet Department for having many of our firefighters enrolled in the for Cancer. The NFR is the largest effort undertaken to understand and reduce cancer among U.S.firefighters. Congratulations to our department for being a leader in this historic effort!

Today was a busy day for our daylight crew as they were engaged in community outreach, installing smoke alarms for fire prevention, educating MVCTC students on the Lucas CPR machine, and conducting pre-planning and reviewing new construction projects as well has handling emergency calls.

Use caution I-70 East at the 39 mm. Charleroi FD on the scene of a MVA involving 2 commercial vehicles.

This evening, Rescue-33, Squad-1, Squad-3, and Car-1 responded to Lock #4 to assist with a motor vehicle accident involving entrapment. Crews stabilized the vehicle and removed the roof to extricate the driver, transferring them into the care of emergency medical services.

This evening, firefighters underwent training that included a review of CPR/AED and first aid procedures. Additionally, they reviewed patient stabilization techniques, patient packaging, and splinting using air splints. Furthermore, personnel practiced extricating patients from vehicles and concluded with simulated administration of epinephrine for allergic reactions.

The Officers and Firefighters extend their deepest condolences to the Woncheck family and the Brother and Sister firefighters of the Fallowfield Twp. Fire Company upon the loss of former Fire Chief and Police Chief Sam Woncheck. Chief Woncheck was a respected friend and mentor to many, and he will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.

The officers and members of the Charleroi FD would like to thank everyone in the community for their support over the last 7 weeks of our Lenten fish fry. This is a huge fundraiser for our department and it was a great success. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
